The Imperial Beringian Military Police is a military police body under the Imperial Beringian Armed Forces of Old Beringia. The military police serves the Department of War, Department of Home Affairs and Department of Colonial Affairs as a traditional military police, gendarmerie, and secret police force. The military police also act as an occupation and security forces in conquered states after successful invasions. Military policeman are referred to as "Agents of the Crown" or simply agents. Unlike military police in many other countries, the Imperial Military Police is a separate branch of the Imperial Beringian Armed Forces.

Mission

The chief goal of the Imperial Military Police is to establish and maintain public order. When the Imperial Military Police arrest a civilian that is suspected of committing a crime, the arrested person is typically subject to civilian judicial proceedings. However, those arrested in colonial frontiers or in territory occupied during military operations are typically subject to military law.

Military functions

The Imperial Military Police is responsible for enforcing military law among the five branches of the Imperial Beringian Military.

Civilian functions

The IBMP is responsible for maintaining public order through various means. These include supporting local police operations and duties, conducting intelligence missions in support of civilian agencies such as the DIII, performing large scale searches or arrests, guarding prisons and detention centers, overseeing and directing the efforts of those sentenced to penal labor, guarding government facilities, and other special security duties. The IBMP is also responsible for establishing, enforcing, and prosecuting civilian law on the frontier.

Organization

Unlike the other branches of the Imperial Beringian Military, the Imperial Military Police operate under a garrison structure organized by role and geographic location. There are eleven special garrisons and 27 garrisons in total. Certain garrisons, like 3rd Garrison have jurisdiction throughout Beringia while others are tied to specific prefectures.

Command Garrison

The Imperial Military Police, 1st Garrison, is responsible for all Imperial Military Police units and operations. It is administrative and operational in nature, being composed of several units that are responsible for military police training, oversight and internal affairs, political warfare, several jails and prison camps, coordination with other branches and organizations, operation, logistics, and communications. It is also responsible for giving direction to local civilian police forces. The Command Garrison maintains headquarters and field offices throughout Beringia.

Adjudication Garrison

The Imperial Military Police, 2nd Garrison, also known as the Adjudication Garrison, is responsible for prosecuting, presiding over, and judging legal cases involving political and criminal offenses.

Third Section

The Imperial Military Police, 3rd Garrison, is one of the state security services of the Imperial Government. The Third Section effectively functions as a secret police force and maintains surveillance as well as records on those subjects and foreigners in Beringia deemed suspicious by the DIII and Imperial Government. The Third Section is broken up into three tiers, Tier One and Tier Two. Tier One operatives generally conduct most of the analysis and gathering of intelligence for the Military Police. Tier Two operatives generally act as informants, groom potential collaborators, and operate prison camps for political, as opposed to criminal, offenders.

Fourth Garrison

The Fourth Garrison was formerly one of the five mobile labor garrisons and operated throughout the midlands in Lithiland and Aleutia. Following reorganization efforts in 2011 most information regarding the Fourth Garrison was classified and the former Fourth Garrison was redeployed as the Eighth Garrison.

Mobile Labor Garrisons

Garrisons Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine and Ten are responsible for transporting, coordinating, and overseeing work being carried out by inmates who are forced to engage in penal labor as a form of punishment. The Mobile Labor Garrisons also oversee the operation of labor camps that combine detention and labor.

Civil Affairs Garrison

The Imperial Military Police, 11th Garrison, also known as the Civil Affairs Garrison is a civil affairs garrison that uses non-lethal means to support military operations by working with local governments during war and peace. The goal of this garrison is to leverage soft power to weaken and marginalize opposition forces before they can gain traction to promote stability and gain influence. Military policeman in this garrison receive language training and regional training and operate in small mostly autonomous teams. Their responsibilities can include population and resource control, civil information management, foreign humanitarian assistance, and support to civil administration. The Eleventh Garrison is the smallest of the other nine special garrisons and is half the size of the smallest Mobile Labor Garrison. The Eleventh Garrison has the same minimum security clearance requirements as Third Section.
