Iris Enţyvel (born 4 November 1960) is a Gylian hotelier and businesswoman. She is the founder and director of Isel, one of the largest firms in the Gylian tourism and winter sports sectors.
Early life
Iris was born on 4 November 1960 in Verďa, a small village in the Salxar mountains. Her parents were farmers who raised sheep and goats. They adopted two more children in her infancy so that Iris could have siblings.
She attended primary school in Verďa, then attended lower secondary school in Vaşa. To commute to Vaşa, she would wake up before sunrise and walk down to the nearest intercity bus stop with other students.
She attended polytechnic in Vaşa from 1975 to 1978, studying accountancy. She took her first job at this time, working part-time at a local motel.
After graduating from polytechnic, she began an apprenticeship at a hotel in a small city closer to her village.
Career
Iris concluded that Gylias' tourist industry at the time specialised mainly in seaside resorts. She decided to enter business to capitalise on the rather neglected mountain and winter tourism area.
She founded Isel in 1980. Starting from one renovated hotel in Verďa, the company underwent modest growth and established a solid foundation in northern Gylias by the end of the wretched decade.
Starting in the 1990s, Isel used its leading position in the winter tourism sector to expand abroad, opening branches in various Common Sphere and Tyranian countries.
Public image
Iris is one of Gylias' richest hoteliers. Her wealth is estimated to be Ŧ5 billion. She is a participant in the Social Partnership Program and has donated extensively to philanthropic endeavours and charities.
Her courteous and refined public image has played a significant role in Isel's success and her public recognition. She has a distinctive wardrobe in public, being seen exclusively wearing a white trench coat and wool hat.
Her hair began to gray in childhood due to a lack of melanin. By the start of her business career, it was completely white, often with a silvery complexion. She jokes that this "made people think I'm wiser than I actually am".
Private life
Iris lives in Verďa, also the headquarters of Isel. She is known for her frugal lifestyle. She lives on a top floor suite in the first Isel hotel, paying for accommodation and services as a regular customer.
She has a daughter, Ilia Enţyvel (b. 1996), conceived through in vitro fertilisation.
She is mainly a practitioner of Concordianism, and politically has expressed support for the National Bloc.
