Gacar (abbreviated GC) is a region of Gylias. Located in the north, it borders Knichus to the north, Makarces to the west, Kausania and Mişeyáke to the south, and Gerşyr to the east. Its capital is Razyn.

In Gylian English, the region is nicknamed the "gotcha region", playing on the phonetic similarity between its name and the English expression.

Geography

Compared to its eastern neighbours Salxar and Makarces, Gacar is less elevated, and more of its territory is occupied by the Laişyn plain.

The Ţikona river originates in the region and determines its boundary with Kausania.

The Mytin Pass lies to the north, a strategically important pass throughout much of Gylian history. The GNRTS operates a standard international rail to Knichus from Razyn.

Demographics

The 2020 census recorded a population of 199.956, making it one of Gylias' least populated regions.

The main Gylic peoples in the area are Aréş, with a Yaskan minority in the north.

Economy

The region is mainly rural and has a smaller economy based on agriculture and animal husbandry. It also receives tourism, particularly related to winter sports.

Politics

The region's regional council is named the Gacar Regional Council, and its regional party is named the Gacar Party (French: Parti Gacar).

Gacar has historically been a left-wing stronghold. At the same time, the region's mainly rural population has not been receptive to tendencies of aristerokratia and socialised luxury, leading to gains by the Movement for Emancipation and Democracy and Revolutionary Rally during the wretched decade.
