Jorj Rikurdsen (/ʝoɾi 'ɾe.ʝɐɾd.zən/) is an actor from Vyvland, best known for starring in the films Division and When We Were Young (Ohls Wi Wur Jung). He is primarily active in Iglesian cinema, although he has acted in multiple Vyvlander films, in both English and Vyvlander. In 2012, he was voted the most recognisable Vyvlander actor in a poll of five Esquarian countries.

Early life

Rikurdsen was born to musician Jekob and nurse Elen, who had previously given birth to Vrank, Jorj's older brother, who is also an actor. His parents encouraged him to perform in drama and music from a young age; at age 5, Jorj played the leading role in a production of hit musical Hog-Voiv! (High-Five!), which was critically acclaimed at the time. Jorj also played piano and clarinet from a relatively young age, to the point where, at age 12, he could play sophisticated pieces by Iglesian composers Arvyn Valetsa and Leonard Vlensa; he says that these composers gave him a love for their country which inspired him to move there in his twenties.

At age 16, Rikurdsen came out as gay, which he describes as "a world-shifting occasion". This resulted in a shift in Rikurdsen's priorities even more towards acting, where he would become "a whole different person" from his usual shy, reserved character at tyfsgol and in academic life.

Career

Rikurdsen moved from a relatively unsuccessful education to blossoming a talent in acting. He joined the well-known Vludsgol group of actors at age 20, thus being their youngest member ever at the time. As a member of this group, Rikurdsen was picked for many large Vyvlander films, such as Es Problem (His Problem) and Luv en Biyndaagen (Love in Bondhaven), in which he played the starring role of Rasmys, a Vyvlander farmer who finds himself alone in the city of Bondhaven.

However, after these two successes in Vyvlander film, Rikurdsen was hurriedly asked to audition for the teen hit Division in Iglesiantis. The success he enjoyed from this film caused him to stay working in Iglesian cinema, playing characters in a wide range of genres from action to romcoms. For these films, Rikurdsen has won a plethora of awards and is widey regarded as the most successful Vyvlander actor in Iglesiantis.

Family life

Jorj lives with his partner, Max, in Larena. The couple have a 9-year-old son, who they adopted from Vyvland, called Tomas.

Charity and political views

Rikurdsen has repeatedly pledged money to support LGBT rights across Esquarium, in addition to for environmental concerns. He has also in the past claimed to have vocally supported the Greens in Vyvland, although in 2012 he stated that political advocacy was not "such a big part of my life anymore", also indicating that his support for the party was wavering in the same interview.
