Juan Borja Hernández (born 19 May 1963) is a Nindegani politican and former air force officer serving as president of Nindegaan since 2001.
Borja was born to a family of poor street merchants in Mar-a-Lago, then part of Tieradan Nindegaan. When he was 17 years old, the Nindegani War of Independence began and Borja joined the Nindegani National Army, the armed wing of the Nindegaan National Congress (CNN), as a foot soldier. He fought in various battles against colonial forces, rising through the ranks and contributing to the revolutionaries' eventual victory in 1985. Borja became a close confidant of Fidel Seco, the leader of the CNN and of Nindegaan, who appointed him the head of the country's fledgling air force. While somewhat professionalizing and modernizing the branch, Borja and his allies embezzled millions in air force funds for personal use and generally oversaw the deteroriation of its fighting capabilities.
During his military command, Borja oversaw the country's air forces in the Tusolan Straits War, in which Nindegaan suffered huge losses. Using his friendship with president Seco, Borja managed to pin the losses on his inferior officers, leading to a purge of the air force and of the military as a whole. Borja was appointed vice president in 1995, and immediately became president upon Seco's death in 2001.
