Keith County is located in the Ibican state of Hamilton. Its county seat is Underwood, the most populous city in the state. As of the 2020 census, the population was 878,661, making it the most populous county in Hamilton. The county is crossed southeast-northwest by the Underwood River.

Keith County was originally the core of the lumber industry of north Hamilton, and is still home to a large number of papermills, sawmills, and fabrication facilities. Due to this economic importance, Underwood is also the hub of the railroads of northern Hamilton, hosting the headquarters of the Hamilton International Railroad.
