Kire Steriovski is a Syaran politician who served as Executive of Syara from 2012-2016. He was the first non-Warden Executive of the Commonality, and the only one until the election of Anita Beleska in 2020.
An ethnic Makedonian, Steriovski was born in Danyets to a middle-income family. Too young to partake in the Refusal War, Steriovski focused on local politics within Makedon in the aftermath of the conflict. He was elected as a Senator in 1998, a position he held within the Realm Senate until 2006. That year he successfully ran for office within the High Council, securing a seat in the National Assembly. Steriovski served in a number of committees between 2006 to 2012, most notably leading opposition to the Zemplen War, for which he was heavily rebuked by the pro-Warden Union Party. Following Syara's defeat Steriovski saw a surge in popularity as the Federalists made major gains in Realm elections in 2010, leading him to the forefront of national attention. During the 2012 national election that saw the Federalists gain control of the High Council, Steriovski was nominated as Executive and confirmed on 15 July. He became the first Federalist Party member to serve as Executive, as well as the first non-Warden.
As Executive, Steriovski focused heavily on financial and political reform. He authored a number of initiatives aimed to grant greater power to Syara's Realms at the expense of the central government, while working to stabilize Syara's financial situation that was still recovering from the war. He passed several reforms and programs aimed at supporting Syaran veterans. Although he expressed interest in modernizing Syaran infrastructure, only a few endeavors were actually put into motion. In 2014 Steriovski authorized subsidies to major players in Syara's service sector, several of which became the source of controversy after allegations of corruption and embezzlement arose. Although Steriovski is generally credited with laying the foundation for Syara's mid-decade boom, foreign policy undermined his administration. Steriovski flipped back and forth several times on his position with regards to Ruvelka, and he presided over a period of deteriorating relations with Syara's ally Æþurheim. He ran unsuccessfully for a second term in 2016, losing to Neo-Warden Radovan Kostović.
While credited as a capable administrator and economist, Steriovski earned a reputation as being gaffe-prone while in office. His inability to establish a clear position with regards to Ruvelka compared to the staunch reconciliatory attitude of Kostović is generally considered to have been a major reason for his 2016 defeat. Since leaving office Steriovski has focused most of his time within the private sector, owning and operating several financial firms.
