Konala Vsevolodovych
Konala Vsevolodovych (born 22 October 1988) is a Chistovodian born, Lavanan naturalized former biathlete. He is a Winter Invictus games bronze medalist, and a 3 time Winter Invictian. He is Lavana's only Winter medalist, and the first from a tropical nation in the Invictus games after he placed 3rd in the Men's 20 km individual event at the 2016 Linå games. He announced his retirement on April 12 2018 following a knee injury.
Early life
Konala Ivan Vsevolodovych Pathmouch was born on the 22nd of October 1988, in Khmelnytskyi, Chistovodia to a Chistovodian doctor Zidere Vsevolodovych and Lavanan teacher Esena Pathmouch. His parents had met following a cultural exchange program sponsored by the Chistovodia government, to bring in Lavanan teachers to Vinalia for training and specialization. Konala spent his childhood in Solone, where his parents were employed, his family moved to Zolochiv in 1995. He started practicing skiing in 1998, joining a Biathlon club in 2003, before joining the Chistovodian army in 2006 at the age of 18.
Early career
Konala initially represented Chistovodia in international competitions throughout his career, but with the allocation of spots for the 2008 Winter Invictus Games unfavorable to him because he would be competing for a limited set of spots allowed to Chistovodia do to its international placement in Biathlon. Konala began to participate under the Lavanan flag in 2007. He gained his qualification for the 2008 Winter Invictus games following a successful World championship in Scovern on December 2017. Konala who had never visited Lavana was invited to the country on an official visit the 12th of January and remained in the country for 4 days before returning to Chistovodia ahead of the start of the 2008 Invictus games.
Konala entered the 2008 games as the only Lavanan in the competition and the first one since 1992 with Luger Kimo Louangrath, who had lived in Kirenia for most of his life, and had a similar background to Konala. Konala became the 2nd Lavanan to ever compete in a Winter Invictus Games. Konala competed on 2 events, the Men's 10 km sprint on February 14th, and the Men's 20 km individual on February 18th, where he placed 82nd out of 87, and 79th out of 88. At the time the Sprint and Individual events became the most watched programs in Lavanan history between midnight and 6am. Konalas participation in the Winter Invictus games was well received by the Lavanan people and government following his participation he received numerous awards in return from Lavana, along with support to continue his training. Lavana also invested in other Lavanan Winter athletes abroad as a result of his participation.
