Kyningsmer (Azmaran pronunciation: [kʏnɪŋzmɛɾ]; Weranian: Königsmeer, Borish: Koningsmaar) is the capital and largest city of the Azmaran province of Ostlaak. It is the sixth largest city in Azmara, with a population of 151,787 residents in 2017, while its wider urban area has a population of over 300,000 residents, making it one of the largest urban areas in the country outside of the central Bojnersteden conurbation.
The city is considered to be a religious centre of both Azmara and the Westmarckian movement of Sotirianity, with the Primate of Kyningsmer serving as the reverend of Kyningsmer Cathedral and the primus inter pares head of the Church of Azmara. It is also historically significant as a major industrial centre during the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries due to its proximity to the mining villages of the Ostlaak Hills, with the city being prominent in the early mass production of steel.

Politics
As with all municipalities with city status in Azmara, Kyningsmer has a directly-elected Mayor and a City Council. The Mayor of Kyningsmer is currently Aleksander Johansun, who is a member of the Workers' Party and has served as Mayor since 2010, being re-elected in 2014, 2018 and 2022. The City Council consists of 40 members elected in five electoral districts corresponding to the five traditional neighbourhoods of the city, with the Workers' Party currently being the largest party on the council with 13 seats and forming a governing majority with the Socialists for Ostlaak and Liveable Kyningsmer, while the second-placed Sotirian Democrats form the opposition with 9 seats.
As with much of Ostlaak, Kyningsmer is seen as an electoral stronghold for the Workers' Party, with the province's strong working-class, industrial identity and high union density causing a natural affinity for the party, which won 51.2% of the vote in the city in the 2020 elections. However, relative to other major Azmaran cities, the city has a large vote share for the Centre Party due to its significant religious links.
