In response to Romberg asserting sovereignty over the Western Tundra, in late July 2016 governments across Astyria began issuing sanctions against Romberg for the seizure of land in Lorecia and claiming dynastic rights to it. The deployment of Rombergian military forces to the region prompted a second round of sanctions by Aquitayne, expanding on the sanctions and those affected by it. The Rombergian government responded in kind after the first round of Aquitaynian sanctions, levying their own against Aquitaynian industry.
