The United Republic of Luminika, simply Luminika is an island country in the Alexandrian Gulf on the continent of Asteria on the planet of Kylaris. The nation has a population of 12,490,000. The nation is under a dictatorial government which maintains the capital as Altenstad. The nation, being an archipelago has no land borders but shares maritime borders with Platerdam and Moreira. Luminika is a Unitary semi-presidential republic, however is under a civilian dictatorship. Ethnically speaking, the nation is mainly Euclean Weranics, along with large Etrurian and Lusitianian minorities, along with black Baihanisch. The majority language is Weranian, but Lusitian is common in the Santa Ruinas and Nordbraubach districts. Speaking of districts the nation is unitary but made up of 22 districts, with 4 regions.

For centuries the islands have been inhabited. First by natives, numbering 2 million at their peak, a population which steadily declined after the islands were colonized by Lusitania from 1530-1708. Etrurians migrated heavily in this period along with a spike in plantations and trade. After modern-Luminika was awarded to Cislania in 1730, thousands of Weranics from the Ahnemunde Confederation fled to the islands, along with Cislanian migrations, this meant about 50,000 Weranics in the area by 1750. By 1850 that was 750,000, plus around 250,000 Lusitians, 190,000 blacks, and 150,000 Etrurians. The nation gained independence in 1874, then with the foundation of the Amalgamated Counties of the Lumines. By 1880 it had been wiped out, Weranics then ceased a new VRL.

The country's climate and geography is primarily tropical, with rainforests still prevailing in parts of the islands. Mainly flat land exists but small mountain ranges are frequent in some parts of Esta Merna. The tropical conditions have made it ripe for plantations and farming, and the fall of rainforests to create new flat plains land is a growing, and worrying phenomenon in the country. The economy of the nation is stable and is growing, but the nation is still considered "poor", for local Asterian standards set by the Federation, Satucin, etc. Luminika's main industries are fishing, timber, mining, and fruit.

History

Pre-History(Before the Sixth Century)

Antiquity (Before the 6th Century BCE - 4th Century CE)

Native inhabitation en masse(5th Century - 15th Century)

Although small tribes of natives existed in all of the Luminikan islands for thousands of years, the establishment of the Tolmeixual Kingdom on New Ruttland in 587/588, changed the landscape of the native politics. It took just a few years for the Tolmeixual's growing empire to encompass all of New Ruttland. Combining with other tribes and nations, the population of the island skyrocketed between 600 and 700. The construction of great temples and monuments that were similar signifies the presence of the expansive nation, as they still exist today. A reported great war between the Tolmeixual and "brothers from afar", making reference to the migration via boat of thousands of natives from the now submerged island of Giniazaal. This war occurred between 750 and 800, resulting in the complete extermination of half of New Ruttland by the travelers. The Tolmeixual race was gradually exterminated, and by 1000 the entire island was controlled by the Giniazaal people, who with their naval technology sailed ships to modern day St. Otto Islands where they set up outposts, and proceeded to destroy the small tribes there. The famous Ginizaal Emperor Axalmeitic oversaw the expansion of the empire to Iles Des Saints, all of the Luminikan islands, and the increasing of the population from around 70,000 to over 200,000. In this time he ordered massive temples and structures to be built in his name, and the Golden city of Axalmeit, in which over 50,000 citizens resided. It was sacked in 1532 but the ruins can still be seen today. It was the capital of the empire, and Axalmeitic's dynasty for centuries to come.

Discovery and Colonization (16th Century - 18th Century)

Luminika was discovered by Francisco de Luminas in 1527. He was born in Povgelia but was contracted by the Lusitian monarchy. His orders were to find a new part of Asteria, beyond the straits of Satucin, and claim it's supposedly rich lands for Lusitiania. He set out on his journey with a fleet 8 ships, hundereds of troops and colonists, and tons of supplies. He sailed from Lesbos and crossed the Vehemens without much trouble; there were some storms but no ships were affected majorly. He sailed into the Arucian and docked in Sanslumiere, where he re-supplied and his crew had a rest. He then sailed through relatively uncharted waters in the Arucian, sighting Marirana and Satucin's coastlines. When he journeyed into the hazardous Alexandrian Straits on of his ships struck land and the crew were forced to disembark on a small rocky island. They then encountered natives for the first time. The natives were crazed and lived ferally, attacking the men, but they were scared away and killed by the guns of Lusitians. The following day the event was reported to de Luminas who ordered a search of the entire island. They found a civilized tribe of natives, who feared their weaponry and were forced to acompany them on the ship. They then sailed out of the straits; a storm wrecked one ship and many died. Luminas sighted New Ruttland on September 17 1528.

De Luminas landed at the modern day Bay of Gulls, on the beach just north of Stone Rise Point. He was met by no natives, but with a storm thought to be approaching he ordered his men to move to shelter under the arch of Stone Rise Point. No storm came; the rest of the ship passengers and supplies made shore very quickly. De Luminas ordered camp to be set up just inland and he ordered his Lieutenant Joao Veragos to take armed men and explore the jungles. They returned unscathed, with arms, packs and even helemts full with all sorts of tropical fruits: coconuts, bananas, por por, and much more. They said they saw "dark light persons" in the jungle and upon pursuit found clearing full of fruit trees. The colony had a good source of food. But the following day the first contact with natives was made. De Luminas himself saw sparsely clothed native scouts watching in awe from the trees, as the colony was created on the shores. He sent men after them and captured them. It took just seconds of questioning for them to reveal their city, existence, and culture, not that the Lusitians could understand much.

When around 30 armed Eucleans walked into the gates of the golden city of Axalmeit, they were seen as gods arriving. With their armor, their mostaches, guns, and language. They were taken in by the Emperor who gave them great gifts of gold and riches. The message got back to the rest of the Lusitian camp: they arrived at Axalmeit the following day. De Luminas decided to play along with the God act, demanding all the gifts possible. Control of the natives came quickly: word had become wide-spread in Lusitia main. More expeditionary Eucleans arrived, with the Lusitians settling and the natives constructing new towns and ports for them. But some natives doubted the white men as they extorted and expanded; their divinity however was a thing upheld by the Emperor. Across the island, Lusitians became wide-spread, with an expedition north being conducted in early 1529.

Weranicization and Rebellion (1730-1870)

At the conclusion of the Peramonic Wars, Cislania demanded and Asterian foothold, of which Florena had a few. Former Lusitia's Luminikan islands were very promising. So Cislania was awarded them in 1731. Cislania, who had plenty of Ahnemunde prisoners to put somewhere along with their own aspiring migrants, saw the aquisition of the islands as an opportunity to spread Weranics far and wide. Between 1730 and 1750 over 15,000 Weranics arrived in Luminika, along with around 7,500 black slaves that were needed to farm the new Cislanic-owned plantations. The first governor of the official Colony of Lumimia, Carl Dominik.
