The M98 Dubois Rifle is a five-round repeating bolt-action rifle produced in the Lorican Alliance, which is the Lorican copy of the Krag-Mauserheim M98 after trade embargoes during the Lorican expulsion of Commonwealth assets in 1899 prompted the Erebonian Parliament to cease shipping weapons to Lorica.
There are only slight differences in between the Krag and the Dubois; namely the cartridge that it fires. The Dubois was designed to fire the cheaper 7x62mm round produced in Lorica. It was massively produced from the 1900s to 1949 and served in the First and the Second Europan War.
The Dubois was a cheap rifle to produce and had the same mechanism as its original counterpart but quality deficiencies posed numerous problems such that the round could not feed well or the round didn't fire. This posed problems for the Lorican Army when it fought against the Imperial Quenminese Army during the Second Europan War. The problem was also reflected on the Joyonghean Sovereign Army's adoption of the rifle. It was prone to jamming and caused it to misfeed alot as described by Joyonghean troops.
