Mantassiya, officially the Republic of Mantassiya (also referred to as Mëtaksiya by some older maps and individuals), is a country in Southeast Elisia. Located between the Ornivian Federation and Nova Briton, it shares a land border with the former. It lies primarily along the coast of the Marlos Ocean, with a rather large inland sea, the Sea of Mëtaksi, making up much of its Western border. The country consists of hundreds of small offshore islands, and around 8 million inhabitants.

The country is known for its rich history, with hefty contributions to of democracy, philosophy, literature, historiography, political science, major scientific and mathematical principles, and theater. It’s historical administration was also composed of various Poleis (singular, Polis), many of which maintain substantial regional power to the modern day.

Parliament

Mantassiya has a tricameral system of parliament, with the following structure:

  • Lower: National Congress, with 283 seats, this body would be made up of a proportionate number of representatives to the electorate, with an active multi-party structure. Its duties would include electing the president, ratifying proposed constitutional amendments from the legislative chamber, and the power to recall the president and vice president.
  • Middle: Control Chamber, with 29 total seats, of which 1 is a presidential appointee, the control chamber is made up of individuals elected or appointed by the various provincial governments (2 per). Its responsibilities include impeachment of everyone and anyone in parliament other than the president and vice president, censure, auditing of the budget (which is submitted annually by the Executive Cabinet), and corrective measures where it can investigate the executive branch.
  • Upper: Legislative Chamber, 28 seats, with 2 elected from each province. It is the principal legislative body, with its responsibilities including approval of the president, supervision of the executive branch, the initiation of constitutional amendments, the impeaching of the president & vice president, and the review of executive decrees.
