The library is situated in the historical center of Paradise City near Paradisa University along the Via Angeli.
Purpose/Activities
The Mederanite Cultural Library was founded in 1866 in Paradise City as an institute to study the art, culture, and history of the nations on the Mederano Sea. The various, and very diverse cultures associated with these nations requires the library to be divided into individual wings for each nation, each one continaining several thousand articles ranging from ancient manuscripts to modern periodicals.
The programme of the library focuses on the history of the Mederanite nations , as they were the cradle of important developments that affected Astyrian history as a whole. Students from Paradisa Univeristy and numerous other schools are often found scouring the halls and conducting research, while scholars from around the world are attracted to the site for the vast annals of information it holds.
Regular workshops on current projects, monthly lectures, study courses for younger academics from the Merderanite countries as well as numerous symposia and congresses provide opportunities for academic exchange between the members of the institute and guests from outside.
The Mederanite Cultural Library's holdings of specialist literature as well as its collection of more than 800.000 photographs of historical assets, with its focus on the history of Mederanite art from antiquity to modern times, are accessible online via the institute's online catalogues.
The Library is also particularly noteworthy for its collection of more than 1,600 Erbonian illuminated manuscripts, making it home to the largest collection of such works outside of Great Nortend.
The Seven Chairs
The Board of Seven Chairs was established at the behest of the Exponential Empire in order to have curators of the collection with first hand knowledge of the Mederanite culture. The Mederanite Association of Higher Learning is responsible for appointing the chairs, one each from an institution in Woodstead, Nikolia, Berique, Dungeyland, Slovertia, Kobolis, and Great Nortend.
