The Merian Navy, Officially known as Federal Navy is the maritime service branch of the Federal Armed Forces. It is the largest branch out of the entirety of the Federation's Armed Forces. Taking up at least 40% of the total allocated budget.

Unlike the other branches, the Federal Navy were formed without roots or history. Of such, much of their traditions are formed during it's early struggling days as it slowly grow. The young Federal Navy now are highly professional, prepared and combat-ready forces, able to be deployed across the globe at moment's notice. It's primary objective is the protection of the Federation at sea but also anti-piracy, peacekeeping and maritime freedom enforcement on global scale. The Federal Navy possess thirteen carrier task groups that are operating across the globe, each assigned to a specific region of operation.

History

The Federal Navy trace it roots back to the Colonial era. Although much of it were lost to times. What was once the glorious colonial fleet of Eluthania were reduced to scraps thanks to centuries of neglection. As of such: The newborn Federation could not inherit what was left of the thirteen countries's navy. Thus, the Navy was never reformed. It took two more years for the official reformation of the Navy, now known as the Federal Navy.

The foundation of the Federal Navy were shaky. The newborn Federation lack the budget to build a Navy. And thus, during it early days. The Federal Navy largely were ceremonial forces. It's took another two years till the budget were allocated thanks to Council support as they argued that the Navy is important to protect Federation merchants, the territorial water of the Federation as well foreign diplomacy. Thanks to that small budget. The Federal Navy built themselves three vessel: The Hyperion and the Granite. The Vessel would later became the primary testbed of Federal Navy's latest electronics and equipment. With the Hyperion namesake continues to be used for present and future ships equipped with latest technology. Current namesake holder is the USSNS Hyperion Science Vessel.

Talks has been discussed about holidays based on the colonial Navy of old, however. Many agreed that due to the controversy of the old Colonial Administration as well lack of interest and history related to the old Colonial Navy. it is best to forge a new identity for the Federal Navy.

Organisation

The Federal Navy is under the dual-administration of the Department Of The Navy, under the civilian leadership of the Secretary Of The Navy and is led by the most senior naval officer, The Chief Of Naval Operations, which is a four-star admiral who is the overall commander of the Federal Navy. Although not a subordinate to the Secretary Of The Navy, they reports to the Secretary Of The Navy. The Chief Of Naval Operations is also a member of the Federal Armed Forces Joint Chief Of Staffs and is appointed by the Federal Government and the Federal Council, the legislative body of the Federation. The Secretary of the Navy and the Chief OF Naval Operations are responsible for the administration, recruitment, training and equipment of the Navy. Which the Secretary Of Navy handles civilian affairs such as funding, advertising and procurement and the Chief Of Naval Operations handle the military matter such as training and military operations.
