The Federal Republic of Neo-Pillowlandian (Spanish:La República Federal de Pillowlandia) (Gaeilge:Poblacht Chónaidhme na Fílolandíthe)is a country located in north central Meridia. Contrary to its styled legal name, the state is a monarchy in which large legal powers are enshrined directly to the Sovereign. It is bordered to its east by Maracaibo, Verpletterant to its south, and is situated across the Westport strait from Ummayah. Neo-Pillowlandia is the third largest economy on the continent after Maracaibo and Aenvelinck. A large percentage, 63.1%, of Pillowlandians are native Meridian ancestry, with the vast majority of the remaining population being sylvan-pillow mixed heritage.
The population of 77 million are largely culturally homogenous despite ethnic and racial differences, due in large part to the prevalence of the state-led religion. It is a member of the Meridian Economic and Defensive Alliance, also known as MEDA, while maintianing particularly poor relations with its neighbor Maracaibo.

Governance
Confusingly styled as a federal republic, the head of government and state is technically the sitting monarch. However, in most day to day affairs of government the Prime Minister can be considered the head of government as many day to day responsibilies have over the years been delegated to the Prime Minister and the various other ministries. As a result the sitting monarch conducts largely the role of a head of state, including visits and recieving of foreign dignitaries.
Further, the monarch is able to at any time call for new elections which will dismiss the sitting government. In a normal term the government will sit for four years between elections, and following negotiations between the parties following an election the person selected to be Prime Minister visits the monarch to seek approval to form a government on the terms negotiated between the parties. Such governments have been regularly refused by the monarch, usually on grounds of minor details such as disagreements over anticipated ministers. The monarch also has the power to direct any minority party to assume leadership of a coalition, even in elections where there has been a party which has been elected with a majority. Such an act occured in 2010, where the nationalist Rembemberance Party was directed by the monarch to form a government after three dozen attempts by the majority elected were rejected.
Foreign Policy
Following the disasterous Red River War and its subsequent treaty, King Raul Estabon II issued the Northern Decree. Among other policies on north meridia, it specifically called out the territorial gains by Maracaibo as illegal and illegitimate. Further Demands of reparations for both the land and the highly valuable oil fields transfered to Maracaibo. Additionally, it went as far as to declare the very existence of a sovereign Maracaibo state as illegitimate, and formally claimed the entire territory of Maracaibo as rightful Pillowlandian territory.
