Nov'yusvit is a militant, separatist terror group based in Western Durnstaal, specifically in the smaller urban centers surrounding the cities of Novada and Piva. The group had an estimated 4,000 active members in 2008 but has shrunk considerably due to the their role in the 2008 Winter Uprising and the group's subsequent labeling as a terrorist organization in 2009. The most recent estimates place their strength between 300 and 400 active members across many small cells ranging in size from 3-15 members. These cells conduct surveillance, recruit new members, and commit acts of terrorism.

The group's ideals align with the radically nationalist edge of the overarching separatist movement present in western Durnstaal during the late 1900's and early 2000's. They believe the Durnian government to be a foreign occupier with no right to rule the western region of the country. The group's overall goal is to create a separate nation, called "Yuran", consisting of the geographic regions of Notoso and the Novada Plains and including the cities of Novada, Piva, Kavyat, Durenko, and Steunhal. Members believe that the government is unwilling to be reasoned with and that the only method of change available is violence. The group is a domestic terrorist organization with activities limited to Durnstaal by both doctrine and resource availability.

History

Harasim Ulicionak

Nov'yusvit was first founded by Harasim Ulicionak as a radical offshoot of "New Dawn", the largest Durnian separatist group active at the time. The group grew quickly, numbering around 100 members by 1975 and reaching 200 by 1980. Davyd Kavalenak, the leader of New Dawn, disavowed the group at a rally on February 18th, 1981 in response to a series of altercations between the group's members and the police of Piva. This slowed their growth somewhat but they still swelled to around 500 active members by 1990. Davyd Kavalenak's death in 1992 and rumors of government interference in the investigation of his murder quickened the group's growth considerably. It was during this time that the group began focusing on foreign influences as well as the government, developing a particular hatred for the many refugees welcomed into the country from Jaginistan during and following the Jaginistan Civil War. When Harasim Ulicionak died in a car accident in 1999 the group had roughly 1500 active members.

Adam Bazarevič

Adam Bazarevič became the new leader of Nov'yusvit in 1999 after the death of Harasim Ulicionak earlier that year. Rumors that he was assassinated by the Durnian government lead to the group's membership swelling even more, reaching 3000 active members just a year later. By 2008 the group was 4000 strong but was beginning to lose steam along with the rest of the separatist movement, so they worked to incite the week-long Winter Uprising in the city of Novada. This had the opposite of the desired effect and not only did the group lose many members during the uprising but it also led to government crackdowns on separatist organizations which remained after the event. Less than a year later on January 3rd, 2009 Prime Minister Milovan Slivka declared the group a terrorist organization. Many members of the group were arrested and what few remained went into hiding. Adam Bazarevič is still believed to be the leader of the organization and he is currently the Hlavný Spravodajský Úrad's most-wanted criminal.
