The Parliament of Imagua and the Assimas (Vespasian: Parlamento di Imagua e Assime) is the legislative branch of Imagua and the Assimas. Created in 1937 when Imagua and the Assimas was granted "equal partner" status to Estmere, it has its origins in the Legislative Assembly of Imagua, which was created in 1892 when the Colony of Imagua was granted limited self-government.
It is a bicameral legislature, with two chambers: the Legislative Council, whose members are appointed for life by the President of Imagua and the Assimas after consulting with the Prime Minister and their government, and the House of Commons, whose members are elected, at most, every four years.
Legislative Council
Distribution
The seats in the Legislative Council are set by the Imaguan constitution, with fifteen seats allocated to the island of Imagua, and four seats allocated to the Assimas Islands. The fifteen seats on Imagua were set in 1892 with the establishment of the Legislative Assembly, with the seats being largely based on who was the "dominant landowner" of the area, and on important settlements such as Cuanstad and Nua Taois. In contrast, the four seats on the Assimas were added in 1946 following their annexation into Imagua, with three seats representing the three major islands, with one to represent San Pietro.
