The Prudence Foundation, abbreviated PrF, is a Gylian organisation that promotes the ideal of restraint and subtlety in Gylian pop cultural depictions of sexuality.

It is a highly influential organisation in the Gylian cultural industries.

History

The Prudence Foundation was founded in 1962 by Jenny Ford. She was a model and activist who campaigned for the maintenance of "good taste and judgement" in the context of Gylias' sexual revolution.

She established the organisation as a way to attract more support to her position. Its national breakthrough came with the publication of Jenny's manifesto, For the Good of Sensuality. Its arguments that insinuation was an artistically superior approach to portraying sexuality, and that the playfulness and charm that characterised pin-up models and older works of pornography deserved preservation, struck a chord with the Gylian public during the Golden Revolution.

The PrF gained popularity as a result of its unique viewpoint and creative campaigning techniques. It formed part of a highly influential broader milieu that sought to reconcile social liberalisation with conservative standards of appearance and elegance, which included Saorlaith Ní Curnín's Good Practices Code, Ðaina Levysti's "clothes ideology", and aristerokratia.

Mission

The PrF's official mission is to promote artistic excellence, subtlety, and restraint in pop cultural depictions of sexuality.

Structure

It is a voluntary association and a nonprofit. It follows an autonomist model of organisation, with members electing a 10-member Administrative Board and 15-member Supervisory Board annually.

Activities

Research

The PrF undertakes research into portrayals of sexuality, publishes reports on the topic, and organises regular forums and public events to debate the topic and highlight successful examples of sophistication in sex scenes.

Awards

It awards the "Sensual Excellence Award" to films, television programs, books, comics, games, and other media that displays excellence, high artistic standards, and restraint in portrayal of sexuality.
