The QF 12.7 cm/38 calibre Mk XXIII gun (Illusian designation 12,7 cm SfK C/42[Note 1]) is an Illuverendian naval gun that is extensively deployed on a large majority of Royal Illuverendian Navy surface vessels. For the unrelated lightweight gun yet also employed by the Royal Illuverendian Navy, see 127 mm/62 calibre Mk LXVI naval gun.

This variant of a 127 mm artillery was conceived by the ailing Stratocracy, with the Royal Illuverendian Navy getting hold of later use after Alyssa took power. Due to the limitations employed by the modern lightweight 127 mm gun, the Navy's research and development teams went back with the "traditional" way of making a short-barreled, quick-firing gun that would also project the same effectiveness on the modern lightweight guns. Paired with a widespread apathetic opinion on the slow-firing antiquated 15 cm SK C/29 guns, the Mk 23 gun had no opposition in being quickly implemented, starting with the S-51 project, those being the Albemarle class of battleships, the Revenge class of cruisers, and eventually the New Generation Fast Battleships.

A newer version optimised with technologies learned from the lightweight gun, the QF 12.7 cm/38 calibre Mk XXIV, was introduced in 2056.
