Biography
Early Life
Born in April 1959, Blunte grew up on his family's maple plantation, learning the trade. His father was a reservist and was killed in the Whitebay Crisis when Blunte was barely 14 years of age. His mother died three years later, and he and his brother decided to sell the plantation. Blunte then enrolled in the Arkengarth Academy, being accepted on the basis of excellent physical constitution and high psychological profile scores.
Service career
Despite Brytene being largely at peace over the course of Blunte's service career, he proved to be a dependable and intelligent leader, bringing his soldiers through engagements with significantly diminished casualty ratios compared to projections or other units' performance.
Throughout the late 80s and early 90s he led the ground-based peacekeeping efforts in Pepper Atoll, and his actions led to a significant deterioration of the fighting capacity of the Manaagnwe Militia, who would not recover until the early 2000s, almost a decade later.
He led the ground forces during the Brytisc intervention in the First Dhechnian War, in support of Brytene's ally Carloso.
Blunte was the commanding officer on the ground during the siege of the Cuscatlani embassy in Lundene. Charged with safely escorting the Cuscatlani to the Lundene International Airport, Blunte took no chances, mobilising heavy armour and sniper teams as well as calling for aerial support. His fears proved to be well-founded as Cuscatlani embassy staff opened fire with thermobaric ATW weapons. Under his supervision, the embassy was completely destroyed with no loss of Brytisc life. All eight Cuscatlani guards, alongside the ambassador and his two aides, were killed, a fact which has earned Blunte some criticism from amongst the Brytisc media. His own regiment took to calling him "The Diplomat" after this incident.
Personal life
Richard Blunte is married to Lucille Blunte, a logistics administrator for House Canillac. They have three children. He is reported to enjoy fishing and walking in his spare time, and keeps a Saxon Elkhound named Patrick, who famously saved Blunte's youngest daughter from drowning when she was 3 years of age.
