The Nortymba Regiment, (7th, abbreviated NORTH), is a regiment of the Confederate Brytisc Fleet, with a recruiting area covering much of northern Nortymba, including the canton capital of Eoferwic. It currently consists of two active battalions and a reserve battalion, and is headquartered in Eoferwic under the command of Colonel Richard Blunte.

Structure

The Nortymba Regiment is split into three battalions, with a total strength of 1441 active-duty personnel.

  • Col. Richard Blunte, commanding
    • Regimental Sergeant-Major Khan Sadik
    • Regimental Quartermaster-Sergeant Tanna Horn
  • Lt. Col. Sandra Cunningham, 1st Battalion
  • Lt. Col. Wallace Wheellock, 2nd Battalion
  • Lt. Col. Darcey Barret, 3rd Battalion

1st Battalion (Northern Foot)

The 1st Battalion is commanded by Lt. Col. Sandra Cunningham, and constitutes a total of 434 personnel in five companies. The battalion is almost entirely motorised infantry. The 1st company acts as the command and control company for Colonel Blunte and contains the battalion's light infantry complement.

2nd Battalion (Blue Dragoons)

As their name reflects, the Blue Dragoons are primarily an armoured cavalry and mechanised battalion, commanded by Lt. Col. Wallace Wheellock, with the 6th Company serving as the regimental reserve. The 7th Company contains the Regiment's MBT allotment, whilst the 8th company contains the IFV and APC units of the regiment. The 9th company contains the regiment's engineering units, as well as additional communications personnel, whilst the 10th company is the regimental helicopter company.

3rd Battalion (Nortymba Reserve)

The 3rd Battalion is a reserve battalion, used for recruiting, training, and replenishment. It is commanded by Lt. Col. Darcey Barret, who is also the commanding officer of the Nortymba Regiment's barracks. The 3rd Battalion never leaves barracks - instead, individual reinforcements are packeted out by transfer from the 3rd to one of the primary battalions, whilst soldiers on long-term leave or seconded to special duties are returned to 3rd Battalion for administrative purposes.

In the event of a national emergency or invasion, the 3rd Battalion can function as a four-company part-mechanised battalion.

Regimental history and tradition

The Nortymba Regiment was originally raised in 1597 as the 7th Royal Regiment of Northern Foot, as a precautionary measure during The Whaler's War. The war ended before the regiment could be deployed, but the unit was maintained and given recruiting rights across north-west Nortymba.

The 7th was deployed to St Joseph for the first time in 1812, when the 1st, 4th and 5th companies of the 1st Battalion landed to seize the Atoll from Mairland in the Battle of Hueslam.

The 7th saw action during the First Great War, and took heavy losses during the First Battle of St Joseph. The regiment was merged with the depleted Blue Dragoons cavalry battalion to form the modern Nortymba Regiment and fought in the Second Battle of St Joseph.

A year later, the regiment fought in the Battle of Nortymba, repelling a Zhenyan invasion.

More recently, the regiment has seen action in Pepper Atoll in the 1980s and 90s as part of the Pepper Atoll Intervention against the Manaagnwe Militia, most notably during the Battle of St Joseph (1986).

On the 26th May 2015, the regiment was serving garrison duty in Lundene when the Brytisc-SACTO conflict reached a flashpoint, and the regiment was ordered to surround the Cuscatlani embassy and oversee the forced evacuation. The Cuscatlani inhabitants opened fire on the Regiment, resulting in a gunfight which left the embassy destroyed and the Cuscatlani contingent dead, with only one wounded casualty from the Brytisc ranks.
