Sylvia Van De Berg (15 June 1992) is a Gallian soldier and swordswoman who currently serves in the Gallian Army as part of Task Force 141.
Sylvia is the daughter of one of Gallia's richest noble families. Although many had sought her hand in marriage, she refused out of the reason that she has placed her life in service to her country. Her family has ties with the Sugiyama Family, one of the UK's most influential families. Although not as rich as the Van De Bergs, Sylvia's father remains indebted to General Conlin John Sugiyama, who had saved his life during the War of Lorican Aggression and thus agreed that a Van De Berg will marry into the Sugiyama family.
Although it was an agreement only accessible to the nobles, Sugiyama nevertheless agreed. Sylvia first met the Sugiyama cousins to find the suitable man for her. Sylvia wouldn't find the man until she met Jacob Sugiyama, who she attended with at the University of St. Georgius. For 7 years, she kept her feelings a secret until in 2014, when she finally came to terms with Jacob and began a relationship.
Sylvia is also a skilled swordswoman, but performs rather poorly when using firearms, prompting Jacob to often teach her how to fire a gun. The couple were married in 2021. They had a son, Ferdinand Alexander Sugiyama born in 2024.
