Darzana Magbaredge (29 December 1990) is a Lucian officer currently serving in the Auxillary Territorial Service Corps. She is also known for being allegedly a lesbian in the Lucis Army, something which many of her fellows tease Kaoru Mizusaki about.
Her most spoken quote is "Mizusaki, Shall I tell you why you can't get a date?" in reference to Kaoru's difficulty in getting into relationships.
Early Life
Darzana was born in Insomnia on December 29, 1990. She was originally named as Darzana Humeray but she never found out which explained why there was barely any people who can trace her relations with her older brother, John. Her parents were both Zanarkians who went to Lucis; Her father was named Allan Humeray and her mother was Suzanne Humeray. They tragically died in a car accident and her brother, John Humeray, who was born in Zanarkand was left to care for her but soon died during a battle defending Tanegashima from an assault against the Federation trying to claim the Tanegashima Islands just south of Nihhon-koku. Darzana was only 6 years old at that time and she was taken adoptive by the Magbaredge Family. Her adoptive father was Brigadier Rowan Magbaredge while her adoptive mother was Lisette Flanagan.
Darzana studied at the Birmingham University of St. Catherine then switched to the Royal Arms Academy of St. Catherine, hoping to follow in her father's footsteps. Here, she majored in film and television. She later directed her first and only film, Flower Ring that earned 752 million Gil in a span of 1 year and a half.
She is a granddaughter of Second Europan War veteran Brigadier Roy Peterson, which Darzana never knew due to her losing her parents at an early age, and with her brother John never telling her. She was presumed dead by Peterson, in which his depression resulted in his death in 2002. He died never knowing that Darzana was actually alive.
Service in the Lucis Army
During the Second Lucis Civil War, Darzana served in the Royal Navy as a cadet during her studies. Darzana displayed herself to be an excellent planner. She received promotion to Lieutenant following an action that took place in Southern Lucis, in which she was able to divert the attention of rebel ships in order to allow Lucian land forces to capture the port of Dover. Following this event, she received command of a patrol vessel. Later on, She received the Distinguished Service Cross with regards to her action during the civil war.
Darzana served in the Royal Navy until 2012. She later joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service Corps, A branch of the Lucis Army for women. It was during this time that Darzana was aware that Koichiro Marito was with her brother when he died in the battle and held Koichiro responsible for his death and never forgave him for it. Soon, She moved on and had forgotten about it but remained vigilant about what happened to her brother. It was during this war when she met Kaoru Mizusaki as she was assigned to Darzana's command. Darzana teased Kaoru about relationships due to Kaoru's inability to get into relationships. After the war, Darzana even told her that she and her should be in a relationship with each other to which Kaoru only replied with a blush.
After the war, She remained with the ATS and served with further distinction under her new commander, Taletha Tsukimi who was an officer that wore Bunny ears and a maid costume for a uniform which she and the rest of the ATS officers and personnel found to be weird. She would then attend on the Commonwealth visit to Joyonghyea for a celebration of the anniversary of the end of the war.
Imperial Crisis
Eurasianna War
In the first year of the war when Task Force 141 was reactivated, Kiriya immediately assigned Darzana as the Field Commander in Richard's absence, who apparently was held as prisoner in a Lorican Gulag due to a failed operation to obtain classified Lorican documents. Darzana eventually got promoted to Colonel. Her style of command is similar to Richard's due to in part of her working with him a lot and learning in the process. When the Task Force was finally on its full strength with its old members back in the group, Richard was still missing and that Klankain took in the place of Richard. Myung-dae still believes that Richard is still alive somewhere in Lorica but other records have shown that he is killed-in-action.
Darzana eventually launched an operation to find Richard but had been protested by the High Command. Her commander, Kiriya firmly supported her actions but the High Command threatened to disavow the Task Force and arrest all of its members. However, Kiriya, with support from his best friends Angus and Karl disobeyed. This resulted in the task force being disavowed but before the declaration had been announced, They fled to Erebonia, where the Gneisenau Circle was also operating and Friedrich Albricht, leader of the group welcomed them with open arms and supported the action to find Richard.
On June 14, Darzana spearheaded an attack on the Dniepr Gulag in the snowy Dniepr Mountains to rescue a Prisoner #173, who Friedrich believes can help them be able to find out the next moves of the Imperials' expanding empire and to prevent the expansion into threatening Northern and Eastern Asianna. When Rean breached the prison walls, The prisoner immediately subdued him at a gunpoint. Darzana pointed the pistol that Richard handed to her 5 years before. She tells him to drop the weapon and the prisoner immediately recognizes Darzana, whom she recognizes the prisoner to be none other than Richard. When the group found out that the Prisoner was actually Richard, they were all shocked to find their old field commander alive. When they returned to Erebonia, Richard was welcomed back and returned to service by Kiriya and resumed his position as Task Force 141's Main Field Commander. He also reunited with his family. After this, Darzana resumed her duties as his second-in-command.
Personal Life
Known for her wits, Darzana is one of the most recognised officers in TF 141. She is also recognised for her charming and voluptuous personality that often makes men turn on. A known joker and teaser, Darzana enjoys the company of her men, especially Waldemar Fegelein, whom she often teases for being a closet pervert.
Darzana is in a relationship with her executive officer, Kaoru Mizusaki. The two are known for their lesbian relationship and many would nosebleed for everytime the two engage in erotic moments in the barracks. After 2019, Darzana had never been the same since some of her comrades had already been killed due to the war. She eventually became bisexual because of this while maintaining her relations with Kaoru.
She has a strong sense of duty and as a captain, she prioritizes the safety of the people around her. She is quick to act and also seems to be a fairly strict individual. Magbaredge is careful, however is not overly so. Darzana can be ruthless in the field, often having not single hint of mercy towards her enemies that make it personal. She also frowns on some of the LGBT community for having egotistic and disgusting personalities that even she wouldn't have as a lesbian.
As a soldier, Darzana is also a firearms expert. She has stated that her favourite service rifles were her standard issue RG 417 and the AG-91M. Although she has a soft spot for the Lena-Elfield No.4. She is also known to carry an EWII-era TM1911 pistol that belonged to her grandfather as her sidearm. She considers it to be her favourite pistol over contemporary issue sidearms.
Darzana has a daughter under a surrogate agreement. She went on a leave in 2019 for undisclosed reasons in which only Kaoru along with two of her close friends, Sarah Valestine and Sharon Kruger know of her reason to go on leave. She later gave birth to her daughter, Elizabeth. Darzana returned to duty in February 2020 following her child's birth. She left Elizabeth in the care of Kruger until the end of the Imperial Crisis that same year.
Darzana is a devout catholic.
