Tojik, officially the Tojik Confederation of Turkic Tribes, is a nation in central Asia. It is bordered by Turky to the west, the Goby Uninhabitable Region (GUR) to the south, Shwon to the northeast, and Tylan to the northwest.
Tojik has a relatively poor rating on HRC-FS human rights, but moderately high ratings on civil liberties, which is almost entirely based on societal rules. There is very little social protest of the laws in place, which has prompted nations around the world to hold criticism of the country, save for a few radical American nations. Political freedom is moderate, but has come under question due to the Tojik delegation winning the last six elections of which Choriev has won the last four.
The Tojik economy is extremely poor and extremely localised providing very little to the world or Asian economy. Tojik frequently penetrates the GUR for mining operations which are often shut down due to the uninhabitability of the region. Gold, coal, and phosphate are the only resources mined in the country and in this region. Numerous attempts have been made to extend Tojik territory into the GUR, but all have failed due to the extreme conditions, low technological capabilities of Tojik, and frequent raids by the Goby nomads.
Etymology
Tojik is the current name of the country since the Tojik tribe currently controls the government. Prior to Tojik control, the Kirj controlled the government and so the country was named Kirj. Tojik and Kirj are both names of large tribes in the nation and do not have clear origins. The word Turkic is from Turk, which has several different origins from various languages ranging from Chinese to Russian to Greek. The most accepted origin is from the old Turkic word for strong or created: Törük.
