Tylan, officially the Kingdom of Tylan, is a nation in north central Asia. It is bordered by Turky to the west, Tojik to the south, Shwon to the east, Gola to the northeast, and Vietbak to the northwest. It has a coast with the Tylan Sea to the north.

Tylan is rated moderately in civil liberties and very low in HRC-FS human rights with political freedom often questioned by the international community. Political elections seem to be rigged in the favour of the ruling political party, the Populist Party. Various laws are in place restricting free speech, ethnic equality, and education. Education is not free after basic schooling, which has maintained a strong standing of the handicrafts, trades, and farming. However, this has also led to a strong socioeconomic split, and arguably stunted technological development.

Tylan has a small economy featuring mostly locally made products which cannot be found in most of the world. Clothing is Tylan’s most common and famous products, Tylan being its largest exporter. All Tylan’s clothing is produced from seaweed, soy, ramie, bamboo, and spider silk and never consists of plastic or artificial substances. Exceptions are made for chemically identical artificial materials, especially spider silk. These materials produce the highest quality fabric in the world.

Etymology

Tylan is a simplified version of Thailand, which used the local word "thai" meaning "free man" and land. This was the name of a country in southeast Asia that existed before 2278. The name distinguished the different between the free people and surfs. Eventually the word came to just mean "people."
