The Zacapine Armed Forces (Nahuatl: ππ°π¬π½π¨πΆπ°π‘Šπ¨π‘†π»π‘Šπ¨ π„π‘Šπ¬π½π‘‹π― πžπ°πΏπ°πΉπ¨π·π¬π»π‘Š, Yaochihualiztli Olochme Zacapiyotl) are the military forces of the United Zacapine Republics. It is subdivided into the Zacapine Army, the Zacapine Air Force and the Zacapine Navy. Each branch contains subordinate corps responsible for specific functions, such as the Naval Infantry or Maritime Security Corps within the Navy or the Republican Guards within the Army. The Armed Forces are supplied by the state run military industry conglomerate Cuauhquetztia as well as specific foreign contractors, provisioning the military with all of its needs from the most basic to most sophisticated and complex. The overall command and administration of the Armed Forces and its three branches is located within the Yaoyotepec compound, a large administrative complex and military command bunker near Quitzapatzaro in western Zacapican. Under the Zacapine constitution, the Armed Forces are formally commanded by the Tepachoani, currently Zianya Xcaret, and administered the Secretary of Defense Nezahualcoyotl Amanaztli. In practical terms, the de facto commander of the Armed Forces is the Chief of the General Staff appointed by the Secretary of Defense and the Tepachoani to preside over the day to day operations of the military and security forces.

History

The modern form of the Zacapine Armed Forces is finds its basis in the armies of the Zacapine Revolution, but would not appear in its recognizable modern organizational structure until the consolidation of armed groups under Zacapican's first Tepachoani, Xolotecatl Acuixoc. At the time of this foundation, at the turn of the 20th century and in the decades that followed, the disparate militias and armies of local warlords would be unified into the Zacapine Army and undergo standardization of structure and organization as well as a modernization of equipment under the Xolotecate era government. In order to pacify smouldering rebellion in the countryside, Xolotecatl also established the Rural National Guard to eliminate banditry, which would later be reformed into the Republican Guards which have been devolved into the state guard of each constituent Republic of Zacapican while remaining within the umbrella of the Zacapine Army and its command structure. The effort to rebuild the Zacapine high seas fleet from what few ships of the Great Heron fleet were not scuttled or lost during the revolution would draw on long after the end of the Xolotecate, beginning with the reconstruction of the naval forces with a modern carrier-centric fleet concept. The long tradition of naval aviation that defines the Zacapine navy began as early as 1919 with the commissioning of a number of seaplane tenders which would eventually give way to the development of purpose built conventional aircraft carriers. The story of the Zacapine Air Force would not be one of reconstruction but rather of an original birth, as the minor balloon and airship scouting functions seen during the Revolutionary wars would develop organically into a fleet of combat aircraft as the technological development of the airplane progressed as in the rest of the world. The Zacapine Air Force would be brought into being in 1935, finally separated from the Army's command structure after the introduction of interceptor fighter aircraft which would usher in an era of aerial operations wholly independent from the actions of the ground forces.
