The Dreamplanet national football team (Portuguese: Seleção Sanjatiesa de Futebol) has represented Dreamplanet in international men's football competition since 2000. It is controlled by the Dreamplanet Football Association, the governing body for football in Dreamplanet.

The team's home stadium is the Apex Arena, in Libon, although most of their home games are frequently played in other stadiums across the country. The current head coach is Rodrigo Vaz and the captain is Luis Silva, who also holds the team record for most caps and for most goals.

History

Dreamplanet's involvement with football came in 1998 when the league was being worked out, it was meant to be started for the 1999-2000 season but stadium construction delays pushed the season back to 2000-01. The first XI for the World Cup was made from the team of the season and played in their first competition in the 60th Baptism of Fire, Dreamplanet were in trouble after losing their first ever international match to Damukuni, however their first ever win came up against The Lee Islands, beating them 3-0 and leading to their elimination, the Tricolores finally escaped a group stage after beating Shtiar Bakal 2-0 in a tense game. However Dreamplanetian dreams were crushed as Eshan won 2-1 in the Round of 16 despite being 1-0 up, Filipe Vaz's reputation as a temperamental goalkeeper began after a foul-mouthed rant when asked about Eshan's equalising chip. They might've thrown it away but the future looked bright. At the World Cup 73 qualifying cycle, their first World Cup qualifier ended with Dreamplanet placed in a tough qualifying group, and at the eve of the qualifiers João Souza was dropped from the national team for spreading mutiny in the squad and with that Luis Silva was made captain, needless to say that the debutants would not be qualifying to the World Cup, even having their biggest defeat against Britonisea in a foul match riddled with fights and attempted murder on the Britonisea goalkeeper, setting up the Doportedas Disaster in which killed 7 Baenen and 6 Dreamplanetian football fans, shutting down Doportedas and causing the venue to not host anything until the 38th World Hit Festival. Following this came the darkest time not just in Dreamplanetian football history but in Dreamplanetian history as the Dreamplanetian financial crisis of 2002 saw the President Simão Silva vetoed sweeping reforms that temporarily terminated services that weren't detrimental to the country such as sports and transport, seeing the temporary shutdown of DreamAir as an example of such reforms. As a result of these changes, the Dreamplanetian Football Association was next on the chopping block alongside the Liga Dreamplanet but offered to run the operation from their own money as they used to be state-funded, this came at the expense of the Dreamplanet national under-21 football team which was axed, the Dreamplanetian FA set a minimum age to represent Dreamplanet at 23 years old, however some players did oversee their debuts at an age younger than 21 like Paulo Figueiredo.

It was tough and controversial but the experience would be valuable for the World Cup 74 qualifying, where Dreamplanet had their best campaign despite still reeling from the financial crisis that almost ended the DFA, however losses to Super-Llamaland, Sameba and Pasarga meant that the job would be much harder since they had to beat Super-Llamaland, and despite taking a crucial lead, Jarred Nash dove and Jorge Cardozo took the bait, he lashed out at Nash and kicked him while he was down, breaking several of his ribs. Super-Llamaland would win and Dreamplanet were put out of their misery, leaving the squad wondering what could've been.

However their good performance was rewarded with an invitation to the 66th Cup of Harmony, it did not go well as Dreamplanet lost to Krytenia and Ethane, and playing for pride they drew 0-0 with Bears Armed, scoring two goals and conceding five. Despite this heartbreak the nation had high hopes heading into the World Cup 75 qualifying cycles, however things didn't get off to a great start, with a loss in their opening two games and staying at the foot of the table for the first five matchdays, the best they could do was get fourth place with four wins, 3 draws and 5 losses. the Dreamplanetian FA decided to re-work the team and despite being ready for World Cup 80, Dreamplanet had to wait till World Cup 81 to return on the world scene.

Os Tricores had a better than expected campaign, despite only getting their first win on matchday 4, they had a 4 game winning run that was the best Dreamplanet ever had, however it all came tumbling down after a 2-2 draw with the Sultanate of Oontaz, and then they had heavy defeats with Jeruselem and Abanhfleft, seemingly putting Dreamplanet on a course to the Cup of Harmony, however what was about to follow would breathe new life into Dreamplanet, Dreamplanet picked up more wins, and as Abanhfleft and Jeruselem started losing games, it opened the door for Darkmania and Dreamplanet to potentially catch 3rd, even 2nd if Abanhfleft completely choked, however it wasn't to be, Dreamplanet lost to Mriin and then finished 5th despite beating Darkmania and the Sultanate of Oontaz. However, Dreamplanet's great performance despite being unranked brought them to the Cup of Harmony, they were in a group with Eastfield Lodge, Polkopia and South Toronto which Dreamplanet was not able to advance despite a draw with Polkopia and a win against Eastfield Lodge as a result of losing to South Toronto.

Despite having high hopes after the Dreamplanetian footballing world was shaken by the success of Coerefente, transfers seeing their biggest players go abroad and the construction of the Apex Arena, which became the home stadium of Dreamplanet, Os Tricores were handed a mighty surprise in the opening match of the tournament, things did not get much better as Dreamplanet lost against Nephara, Commonwealth of Baker Park and Natanians and Nosts. Following a draw with Tinhampton, Dreamplanet lost 3 in 9 matches, being able to salvage a record best 3rd place finish in the World Cup qualifiers, a mere 10 points behind play-off spots.

Finally, Os Tricores' time to shine came at the Campionato Esportiva 24 as the tournament started with a 4-1 win over Apox, Dreamplanet sealed their place in the Round of 16 with a win against San José Guayabal and went on to hold on to first place with a 1-1 draw against the Fhulghamous Peninsula. Os Tricores' campaign took off in the knockout stages as they beat South Covello 3-2 in the Round of 16, hosts Velestria 2-1 in the Quarter-Finals and beating the reigning champions Mattijana 4-1 on penalties after tying 2-2 in normal play. Dreamplanet had beaten the Pot 3 odds and dumped World and Esportivan champions out of the competition along the way, however they were heroically beaten 4-1 by Kita-Hinode in the final as they claimed their second Esportivan title and their 5th title overall, denying Dreamplanet their first in heartbreaking fashion.
