In September 1994, Baudelaire married Jacques Boutain, a real estate developer based in Chambéry twelve years her senior whom she had met four months before. Due to her prenuptial agreement, the divorce process from Boutain was lengthy and would not be finalised until June 1997.

Around March 1996, Baudelaire began an affair with the king of Sydalon, Jordan IX, after having met him at an international women's business conference in Sydalon earlier that year. By September, their relationship became public knowledge due to press coverage, and her pregnancy announcement in early 1997 garnered a lot of media attention. In 1999, Baudelaire and Jordan were married in Sydalon, and their child Alfonse would be legitimised.
