Ansmar II was the last ruling monarch of Drevstran and the last man who held the Triple Crown. During the late years of his rule, he was criticized for his perceived ineffectiveness as a ruler and adamant attachement to absolutism, refusing to make the Triple Crown's spending publics or to allow for a Constitution to be written. In the face of an always rising impopularity and the spreading of insurectionists ideologies, his main anti-socialist executor and one of his highest ranking general, Hortankh Bolsar betrayed Ansmar and led a coup that successfuly forced the monarch to abdicate his position, abandoning all powers to the hastly created Transitory Emergency State. This event marks the beginning of the Drevstranese Civil War.
Ansmar would survive the war. At first he was under the protection of his son, Prince Farza of Kaposlovar and his Golden Columns, until they were defeated in 1915. He was then arrested by Vilvo Orbraggar but was allowed to take residence in Barbelon, on the shore of Lake Kupalnista. it would remain his main residence for the rest of his life and his death place, in 1920, a year after the end of the civil war and the creation of the First Mervoshia.
