The Ateenian Royal Defence Force of Ateenia (Ateenian: Ateenian kuninkaalliset puolustusvoimat) is composed of the Royal Army, Royal Guards, Royal Airforce and the Royal Navy of Ateenia.
The Ateenian Defense Force is considered one of the most powerful militaries in Thuadia and even in Anteria. The ARDF is made up of 62,091 active soldiers and 2,438,197 reserve soldiers. The 2,500,288 soldiers of Ateenia are spread out between multiple branches. All of the 5 branches fall under the command of The Protector of the Realm, which is the ruling monarch of the Free Kingdom of Ateenia. The Hand of the Monarch is responsible for planning the funding and logistics of the Defense Force and is often near The Protector of the Realm so that he/she can advise the Monarch. The Hand of the Monarch is also in charge of the War Council, that makes decisions for ARDF that the Monarch does now, however they always need the approval of the Monarch to pass any decision.
ARDF in its current form was founded 1,176 ABA in 12th of August, after the old organization was rendered obselete, after its flaws were seen in the War of Djinat 1931-1937.
Equipment and armaments have been mostly domesticly produced, however some equipment has been purchased from foreign countries like Bakyern. In 1,253 ABA (2016) the Hand of the Monarch, together with the War Council, made the decision to make all the ARDF equipment and armaments, domesticly produced to ensure that Ateenian security will not depend on foreign equipment. The War Council set a goal to have all armaments and equipments the ARDF needs, domesticly produced by 1,267 ABA (2030).
The ARDF organizes a nation wide National Defence lessons in Colleges, Highschools and Basic School, to give the young people first insights on what the military does and what the life of a soldier looks like. Younglings are often even thought how to take apart a gun and how to put it back together, how to hold a gun, safety tips and how to make fire without a lighter or matches.
