Police Naua Roa, oficially and legally the Royal Patrick Islands Police Constabulary are the principal law enforcement agency in the Patrick Islands. As of 2019, Police Naua Roa has 98 sworn officers, in addition to 14 civilian administrators. Due to the small size of the Police Force, and the relatively high crime rate in the capital of Patrick's Town, the service often calls for assitance from Satavian Military Police stationed at Daga Roa Naval Base. The current police commissioner is Gerald Brown.
History
Prior to the force's foundation, there were no police forces on the island; law and order had been enforced by the native tribal leaders. However, due to the growing size of the capital, Patrick's Town, Estmerish colonial authorites established a police constabulary; the Patrick Islands Constabulary.
In 1921, the islands were transfered to Satavia for administrative purposes, and the force continued operating under new leadership (Commissioners were now appointed from Port Hope, not Morwall). In 1936, the islands were annexed directly by Satavia and integrated as a province, making the force one of the seven provincial forces.
In 1989, the islands achieved independence in free association with Satavia, and for the first time the force was now a national police force. It was also in 1989 that the first officer was killed on active duty whilst investigating a car theft; the murder made headlines on the islands.
In 1991, the force recieved their first cars; previously, imported horses had been the main form of transport for the force. Later that year, the Satavian Naval Service completed their restoration of Daga Roa Naval Base and offered to assist in policing Naua Roa.
In 2008, the force announced that they would be seeking more help from Satavia in combating the rising crime rate in Patrick's Town - and also that year, TASER roll out began, funded by the Satavian Naval Service, which contribute to a large part of the force's budget.
In 2009, the force acquired four Astoria Interceptors from the Imaguan Constabulary, as well as six Land Rover Defenders, which were acquired from the Orange Province Police Service.
In 2012, the force adopted a new marketing name, Police Naua Roa, in a PR campaign initiated by the government of Ai Ka'Mi.
