Consequentially, the motto, God Save the Queen, has been changed depending on the gender of the current monarch. A common "civil motto" has been "Laus Deo," latin for "Praise be to God."

It gained the reputation as a bugle call used in the Eldmarsk army to signify the end of the day. By the Great War, lyrics by Eldmarsk poem Johann Beck became the more secular accompaniment to this version, and accompanied sign-off messages in radio and television. In 1950, it officially became the national anthem by law.
