The Katovice Conference, also known as the Katovice Peace Conference, was an international summit of Astyrian nations convened to contain the expansion of the Blackhelm Confederacy in Hesperidesia
Background
Following the collapse of the Empire of Exponent in 1996, the continent of Hesperidesia was left with numerous new states who had proclaimed independence and established local governments. Led by Lucius Blackhelm, the cities of Redemption, Paradise City, and Sacrament signed the Paradise Accords, which created a new state known as the Blackhelm Confederacy. Two weeks later, the city-state of Divinity signed onto the accords as well, firmly establishing the new nation in central Hesperidesia.
Determined to show themselves as the true successor state to the Empire of Exponent, the new nation swiftly began military action against its neighbors, annexing Ravetta in 1998 before invading and conquering Charvonia the following year. In 2001, the Blackhelm Confederacy invaded and annexed Egypttiansstan, and by 2003 the Blackhelm Confederate Senate was openly pressuring the state of Sudanette.
Sudanettan Crisis
On October 23, 2003, the Blackhelm Confederacy presented the nation of Sudanette with an ultimatum, demanding that the nation join the Confederacy or face military action. Fearing the results of a full-fledged Blackhelm Confederate invasion, Sudanette reached out to the Lorecian Community, hoping to bring them in as mediators to the conflict. The Prime Minister of Nikolia, Włodzisław Sokal, agreed to host the talks.
Resolution
The nations of Astyria decided that Sudanette would be peacefully annexed by the Blackhelm Confederacy. In return, the Blackhelm Confederacy would renounce any claims to other Astyrian nations, and would agree to cease expansion on the continent. Additionally, the Astyrian Federation of Red Cross Societies would agree to extend the AFRC Humanitarian Mission to the Blackhelm Confederacy indeifintely, providing medical aid to residents of the nation. The resolution was ratified by all parties on May 23rd, 2004.
