Motorways are the fastest road in the Empire of Makko Oko and are used to help travel between major cities and provinces, taking you to important areas such as airports and hospitals. Motorways are all managed provincially, with some motorways being a part of the National Route Network, a network of nationally-designated motorways and roads deemed vitally important for one or more reasons. National Route motorways are different from regular motorways, in that part of the motorway is subject to national regulation and management, whilst the rest of it stays provincially managed. Motorways are numbered starting with the letter "M" and then some numbers or letters, and all motorway identifiers must be approved by the Ministry of Energy, Infrastructure & Environment, to ensure that they don't conflict with an already-existing one in another province. This was done to prevent mapping and GPS issues with transport.
