The LMP 62 (LMP - Laki mitraljez pešadije in Serbian or Light Infantry Machine gun) is Nikolian general-purpose machine gun chambered for 7.62 x 51mm cartridge that was designed by Nikolian military design bureau VTI. It was adopted in 1962 as a standard-issue squad support weapon and vehicle-mounted machine gun for the Nikolian Armed Forces and remains in service to this day in several other countries. The machine gun design is derived from LMP 35 which previously served as the standard machine gun. Although it remains vastly in use, a further development of the weapon exists, the LMP 2000 which entered service in 2011 and is slowly replacing the LMP 62 as standard machine gun in the Nikolian Armed Forces.
