Parliament is made up of democratically-elected representatives from West Phoenicia. That are elected from the 13 political parties, currently registered.
The Senate and the House of Representatives make up the national government.
The members of the House represent electoral divisions or districts across the Empire. The House of Representatives follows a Multiple non-transferable vote also known as plurality-at-large. It is a non-proportional voting system that elects three representatives from each province within each of the 53 city-states. West Phoenicia currently has 530 provinces. They serve for a period of 3 years.

West Phoenician senators are elected under the single transferable vote system of proportional representation.
Two Senators are elected from each of the 53 city-state of West Phoenicia.
Senators serve for a period of 6 years.
There number in total is 106.
National Parliament
The Prime Minister chairs the House of Representatives. The President of the Senate; chairs the Senate. The current President of the Senate is; Senator Andrew Rush.
A Prime Minister is elected by the political party or parties that hold a majority of the seats in the House of Representatives.
The President of the Senate is elected by the Senate in a secret ballot.
The royal family approves each law that the government wishes to enact.The Veto Power Act of 2015 allows the Crown, 10 vetos per session.
The royal family has the power to veto any Minister or Judge for the West Phoenician court system, if they feel is not suitable for the country. However the royal family tends to let the elected government handle most of those nominations.
The Monarch has the power to fire the Prime Minister in cases of no confidence, treason, corruption, other criminal charges and call on the elected government to vote in a new Prime Minister in.
To vote, one must be a West Phoenician citizen, not incarcerated and 16 years of age and over.
The West Phoenician Government has broad national powers that are granted to them by the 53 city-states.
The government administers laws in relation to defence, national police force, immigration, foreign affairs, national healthcare, trade, and taxation.
Ministry cabinet positions are delegated by the Prime Minister with approval needed from the royal family. The current government ministry is selected from members of the Coalition based on merit and seats won.

The Coalition has been in power since 2010 when they defeated The West Phoenician Empire First Party.
In February 2019, The Conservative Party of West Phoenicia and The Antebellum Party merged to create a more powerful voting bloc. The merger allowed both parties to focus more on their opposition than each other when attempting to woo candidates.
At the 2019 West Phoenician General Election; the Coalition won their second term with an increased majority..
Jimmy Bain, former leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of West Phoenicia since 2015 chose to step down and not run for reelection in the 2019 election.
The Coalition won 845 seats out of the 1590 on offer, giving them the ability to run government without the support of the Crossbench. However if needed they can usually rely on votes from their right wing allies, Nationalist Party of West Phoenicia and the West Phoenicia Prohibition Party giving the Coalition a supermajority.

City States
West Phoenicia has 53 city states.
Each city-state has their own unicameral parliament, consisting of 20 sitting members.
The City-state elections are run via a the single transferable vote proportional representation method. Two members per province in each city-state are elected. The two with the higest number of votes win those two seats.
The members are elected for 3 year terms and are chaired by a Governor.
