The Arucian shilling (Chloéois Creole: Arijan chiling, Gaullican: Shilling arucien, Western Imaguan Creole: Silinga Arakua, Vespasian: Scellino imaguana) is the national currency of Imagua and the Assimas and Sainte-Chloé. As of June 2020, the exchange rate between the Imaguan shilling and the euclo is 7ſ59 for every €1.

History

The shilling was first circulated on Imagua after Estmere took the island from Geatland in 1658, which had ruled over the island from the conquest of Imagua from Caldia in 1564. However, for most of the history of Imagua, various trade coins were used, mostly those from (TBC).

However, with the advent of the Industrial Revolution on Imagua, it was decided that the official currency of Imagua would have to be pegged at par to the Estmerish shilling. Thus, in 1816, a decree was issued by the Governor of Imagua to ban "all foreign monies from being used in the Colony of Imagua for day-to-day transactions."

While this was initially unpopular and poorly enforced, by the 1830s, the Imaguan shilling began to be produced in Cuanstad. This helped increase the use of the Imaguan shilling among the islanders, and by the 1850s, the Imaguan shilling had become the most dominant currency on the island of Imagua.

On the Assimas Islands, after its annexation by Etruria, the Etrurian florin was introduced to supplant the local currencies. Thus, by the end of the 19th century, the two main currencies on the islands were the florin and the shilling.

After the Solarian War, the florin was replaced by the Imaguan shilling. With independence from Estmere in 1948, the Imaguan shilling initially maintained its peg with the Estmerish shilling. By 1980, with the economic crisis ravaging Kylaris, it was decided to "decouple" the shillings, and on 1 April, 1981, the shilling was removed from its historic 1:1 peg, devaluing the Imaguan shilling so 1 Estmerish shilling was equal to 2ſ74, before it was floated. Since then, it has fallen in value, with the current exchange rate having been around one euclo being worth around 7.50 shillings.
