The House Teorell is a major political dynasty centered around Eoferwic in Brytene. They are major contributors to local industry and have produced several leading military and political figures throughout the history of Brytene.
History
The first recorded Teorell was a huscarl named Synnove Teorell, according to an inscription found on the hilt of a seax in a burial hoard dated to the turn of the 3rd Century AD. A Teorell chieftain was present when Ida Flamebearer conquered Nortymba, and was awarded lands and title there. The house remained a minor one for the next few centuries, surviving the Kingdom of Jorvik and sending a banner of troops to support the Saxon cause at the Battle of Lowencraic. Following the death of King Aelle I at the Siege of Lundene in 1344AD, Aelfric Teorell of Nortymba rallied the surviving nobles and led them to victory at the Battle of Lowencraic, and was acclaimed as King shortly afterwards.
The Teorell dynasty held the monarchy for almost two-and-a-half centuries, until the Brytisc Civil War which saw Queen Leila I deposed by King Gerlad I of House Rohan.
A century later, the Great Charter of Brytene saw the end of dynastic monarchies in favour of elected heads of state. The next Teorell ruler was Cenwulf Teorell, elected as king in 1998, who abolished the monarchy in favour of the life-long office of Bretwalda, roughly translating to 'Chief of the Brytons'.
Properties and value
The surname Teorell, along with related names such as Teorellsman and Teorellsward, is common throughout Nortymba, but the parent dynasty still holds a variety of properties throughout the region, including the original Green Dragon Tavern in Eoferwic and the rich Caldera iron mine network. The seat of the house is Teorell Hall, a modest 15th-Century hall in the historical heart of Eoferwic.
Members
Current members of the family include Cenwulf Teorell, Lord Teorell and Bretwalda, his wife Charlotte Teorell, his mother Marie d'Averc Teorell, his younger sister Kjaterina Teorell and her husband Ceort Roland and their daughter Godiva Teorell, and his younger brother Lawrence Teorell, who is married to Admiral Antonio Botas.
Deceased members of the family include Leofric Teorell, father of Cenwulf (d.1990), and Admiral Moira Teorell, commander of the Fleet during the First Great War (d.1922).
