Antonio Botas is the current Fleet Admiral, overall commanding officer of the Confederate Brytisc Fleet of Brytene. His husband, Lawrence Teorell, is a cousin of Cenwulf Teorell of Brytene.

He has served as head of the Fleet since 2009, and has been an officer of the Fleet since enrolling in the Arkengarth Academy aged 17.

Biography

Early Life

Born in September 1979, Botas was a troubled youth who struggled to succeed academically. He never saw eye-to-eye with his parents, and at the age of 17 he ran away to join the military, assuming the new surname 'Botas', which literally translates to 'boots'.

Service career

Botas excelled at the Arkengarth Academy, his irreverent nature less of a hindrance in the Brytisc military than it would have been elsewhere. He specialised in naval warfare, professing a desire to captain his own vessel from the moment he entered the Academy.

Upon graduation, he was assigned as the second mate of a Teorell-class destroyer, the CFS Thirsk. This ill-fated vessel was sunk upon a lee shore only 2 years later, resulting in the death of twenty-eight personnel including the captain, who was rumoured to have been drunk at the helm.

Botas' decisive action during the crisis, in which he organised the evacuation and remained aboard the damaged and partially-flooded bridge in order to provide rescue units with vital information, earned him the attention of his superiors and a commendation.

In 1997, he was appointed captain of his own vessel, the CFS Ultra, and served with distinction. By 2004, he had been assigned command of the now-defunct CFS Einheit, a light aircraft carrier. When the class was retired in 2007 in order to make way for the Beluga class, he was reassigned to the general staff.

In 2009, his name was floated as a candidate to replace the outgoing Admiral of the Fleet, the 68-year-old Claudia d'Urazzo. He was appointed Fleet Admiral following several weeks of negotiation and political discussion, but his appointment proved an immediate hit with the general public and his leadership since has been widely regarded as exemplary, although the Fleet has faced few real challenges since he assumed office.

Personal life

Antonio Botas is a shameless homosexual, and is married to Lawrence Teorell, a professional horse breeder. Botas enjoys dancing, horse-riding, fishing, and the opera. He is a keen fencer and has his own moderately-successful line of moustache-care products.
