Relations between Hindia Belanda and Jeevenaadu are complex and long, and have existed since at least 500 CE when Jeevenian traders first arrived on the coasts of the Nusantaran archipelago, in order to trade spices and other resources with various early animistic kingdoms. Relations between the two civilisations grew significantly in the 1300s, a period when most petty Kingdoms in Hindia Belanda had already been almagamated under the thalassocratic Majapahit Empire, whose predominant religions were Hinduism and Buddhism. This period also marked the rise of the Muslim Ternate Sultanate in Hindia Belanda and the emergence of a Hindu-Islam architectural fusion in an area known today as Trisbal, a country which neighbours modern day Jeevenaadu. Official diplomatic relations only began in 1820, twenty years after VOC-held territories in Hindia Belanda were nationalised, becoming a crown colony of the Netherlands.
Hindia Belanda has an embassy in Jeevabaad, whilst Jeevenaadu has an embassy in Jakarta and consulates in Bandung and Jayapura.[1]
