Nikolia-Hindia Belanda relations are relations between the Kingdom of Nikolia and the Commonwealth of Hindia Belanda. Diplomatic ties were established on the 30th of January 1933, and since then both nations cherish good relations. Both countries are constitutional monarchies and enjoy close economic relations. Nikolia and Hindia Belanda participate in the anti-piracy joint task force LCNAVFOR. Hindia Belanda has an embassy in Carigrad, whilst Nikolia has an embassy in Jakarta.
History
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 30 January 1930, five months after the independence of Hindia Belanda, but historical links go as far as the mid-1800s when a Nikolian consulate was opened in Batavia, now Jakarta to facilitate trade between the colony and the Kingdom of Nikolia.
The first person of Nikolian nationality to ever visit Hindia Belanda, as far as colonial Hindia Belandan records show, was XY who was born in the city of NIKOLIANcity in 1802. XY's connections enabled him to pursue a mercantile career that eventually brought him to the port city of Batavia, then the capital of the Colony of Hindia Belanda and one of the most prosperous cities at the time, where he leased land from a local Indo landowner to start ??a tea plantation??. His name appeared again in the colonial annal of 1829 where he was listed as a merchant foreigner, now married to a Totok woman from Soerabaja, although the list did not reveal what exactly he was trading at the time. The proposal for a Nikolian consulate to be opened in Batavia was brought forward by him to the Nikolian royal court that same year and he was appointed Nikolian consul to the Colony of Hindia Belanda. By now, the Nikolian community in Batavia had grown to 200 residents and a social club catering to Nikolian expatriates called XY was opened in the district of Klein Rijstveld. Despite Noordenstaater protectionism that prevented foreigners from freely expanding their business and the peculiar regulation where only native Hindia Belandans were allowed to own land in the colony, the Nikolian community was thriving.
The opening of a consulate in Batavia meant easier procedures for Hindia Belandan residents to apply for a travel permit to visit Nikolian cities. It was in 1837 that the first Hindia Belandan, a rich Javanese regent by the name Raden Tumenggung Kartohartojo Atmosoemarna, visited Carigrad. Atmosoemarna sailed to Carigrad on a semi-official mission of the Inlands Bestuur, the colonial department responsible for administering the Javanese territories outside the Vorstenlanden.
The colonial society of Batavia was characterised by a sense of insouciance and relative egalitarianism. As the Colony of Hindia Belanda was the only colony where racial integration was enforced, Nikolians who settled in Batavia had many contacts with the various ethnic groups that call the city home and this encouraged the establishment of Kongsis, which were small trading companies made up of merchants from various ethnic backgrounds. A small number of these Kongsis survived to modern-day Hindia Belanda, rebranded as naamloze vennootschappen.

Nikolia and Hindia Belanda enjoy close economic relations and uninterrupted trade has been ongoing since the 1820s.
