The basic deployable unit of maneuver in the Romaian Army is the brigade. A brigade consists of one combat arms branch maneuver brigade, and its assigned support and fire units. A brigade is normally commanded by a brigadier general. A brigade contains combat support and combat service support units necessary to sustain its operations. A standard brigade contain organic artillery training and support. There are three types of brigades: Skoupeftes, Mechanised, and Armoured. Currently, the Romaian Army is structured around the brigade.
Skoupeftes brigade
The Skoupeftes brigade, as of 2014, contains about 4,500 soldiers and is organized around three battalions of infantry. Each type of brigade has the same basic organization. Virtually every skoupeftes brigade is equipped and capable of air assault operations. Also, most units typically maneuver in Panthira IMV when deployed and operate as "motorized infantry" to facilitate speed of movement. The Skoupeftes brigade can conduct entry operations by ground, air, and amphibious means.
The Skoupeftes brigade consists of seven battalions: one reconnaissance battalion, one brigade support battalion, one engineer battalion, three skoupeftes battalions and one field artillery battalion.

Mechanised brigade
The Mechanised brigade is a mechanized infantry force structured around the ATOM eight-wheeled IFV. A full ATOM brigade was intended to be air transportable into theatre within 96 hours, while a division-sized force is expected to need 120 hours. The Mechanised brigade is an organic combined arms unit of lightly-armoured, medium-weight wheeled vehicles, and is organized differently from the skoupeftes or armoured brigades. The Mechanised brigades are being used to implement network-centric warfare doctrines, and are intended to fill a gap between the Romaia's highly mobile light infantry and its much heavier armoured infantry. The brigade also receives training in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense (CBRN defence).
Each Mechanised brigade consists of three infantry battalions, one reconnaissance battalion, one artillery battalion, one brigade support battalion, one brigade headquarters and headquarters company, and one brigade engineer battalion. A Mechanised brigade is made up of more than 300 ATOM vehicles and 4,500 soldiers.
Armoured brigade
The Armoured brigade is the army's primary armoured force. It is designed around combined arms battalions (CABs) that contain both Heracles 2 tanks and Ares infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). Other vehicles, such as Panthira and armored personnel carriers, operate in a supporting role.
An armoured brigade consists of seven battalions: three combined arms battalions, one reconnaissance battalion, one artillery battalion, one engineer battalion and one brigade support battalion. As of 2014, the armored brigade combat team is the largest brigade combat team formation with 4,743 soldiers.
A Brigade includes 87 Heracles 2, 152 Ares IFVs, 18 Y158 and 45 armed TBD vehicles. The range of the Heracles 2 limits the brigade to 550 km. The brigade can self-transport 738,100 L of fuel, which is transported by 15 19,000 L TBD tankers and 48 9,500 L TBD tankers.

The Romaian Army uses uniforms that can be divided into three different "families", and hold strict rules that apply to the type of textile, color and badge of the uniforms. These include: the Regular Uniform, the Service Combat Uniform, and the Ceremonial Uniform (only for officials).

The Regular Uniform comes in summer and winter versions differing exclusively in textiles used. The uniform is completed by a necktie, brown shoes, khaki socks, and a shako.
The Service Combat Uniform
The Service Combat Uniform is most commonly used out of the three "families" and is distributed to all soldiers with the same mimetic pattern. The uniform comprises a patrol cap, a five-button closure jacket with two internal pockets, and trousers with four pockets. The Romaian Army (Greek: Ρωμαϊκός Στράτος) is the land-based component of the Romaian Armed Forces. The army's history dates back to the Army of Kingdom of Romaia. Its best-known combat vehicles are the Ares infantry fighting vehicle and the Heracles 2 tank. The headquarters of the Army General Staff are located in Constantinoupoli. The army is an all-volunteer force of active-duty personnel.

History

The Romaian Army dates from the proclamation of the Kingdom of Romaia in 1805.

Recent history

In 2008 the Structure reform has begun, all the divisions were abolished and the regiments formed into brigades that are subordinated directly to Army Corps. By 2016, the Brigade Modernization project was completed and its headquarters, the Brigade Modernization Command, was renamed the Joint Modernization Command, or JMC. The Modern army deployment doctrine is concentrated around Brigade Combat teams and combined operations.

After the reform the brigades are subdivided into 3 main types: armoured brigades on Heracles 2 main battle tanks and ARES tracked IFVs, high-mobility mechanised brigades on ATOM wheeled IFVs and light infantry brigades on Panthira and Rhino-S MRAPs.

Mechanised brigade

Standard Mechanised Brigade

Standard Armoured Brigade
