Demi Grand Archoness Séterrhÿana Xuxiah Sélené Ravÿnna-Asträeva otherwise known as Sélené “Alessandra Michelle” Ravÿnna-Asträeva or Dévnostraéva, primarily known as “Alessandra” or “Sandra”, as she has never used her first name outside of Auracexia — is the first President of the nation, that through its various evolutions became the Californian Empire — led the nation for 241 years from the Federated Republic of California to the Californian Sovereign Democratic-Socialist Federation (CSDSF). Officially a Democrat, she aligned herself with the Democratic-Socialist Party of California (CDSP), comprised of the Democratic and Socialist parties as the dominant faction in the new coalition government, as a means of maintaining a cohesive government in Californian politics. Upon the split of the CDSP after the Socialists lost their majority, she quickly aligned herself with the Democratic-National Democratic Party forsaking the tactics of the Socialists upon their resorting to domestic terrorism to retain their majority status. Originally against her election as President of the Federated Republic of California, she humbly accepted her nomination and set to work in forging a new identity for the nation.

Owing to her previous career of serving in the Red Army of the Soviet Union beginning around late 1963, she achieved the rank of Sergeant Major before emigrating from the Soviet Union to the United States at some point in late 1977, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at a rank equivalent to that of Sergeant Major. While serving in the United States Marine Corps at the rank of Major, she kept a low profile and committed herself to her duties before joining the United States Navy in 1984 as an Lt. Cdr. working her way to Admiral, and then in 1994 as a Senator for the state of California, she had years of military and political experience that made her an ideal candidate for President.

She is described as a stoic, cool-headed, calculated and eager to compromise by her supporters; her detractors portray her has emotionless, premeditating and willing to sell out to achieve her goals. Outside of the Californian Empire; Sélené has been branded as a godless Communist, an Imperialist, and an iron-fisted dictator under the assumption that she among the others to have held the office of President in the Californian Empire are elected to lifetime terms. Selene has led the nation through the Second American Civil War (also known as the War for Independence), various conflicts in North America, Africa and the Middle East, turning the small confederation of former American states into a veritable empire.

History

Born as Demi Grand Archoness Séterrhÿana Xuxiah Sélené Ravÿnna-Asträeva/Dévnostraéva in the Ser'khetyeva (Ser Khe'tyeva), Auracexia Prime (Aoraqet'ya Dévno) on 15 Seq'khe-met during the 1st year of the 1st Era of Dévnostraéva Séterrhÿana Navras Delÿa Ravÿnna or 15 Seq'khe-met 1,000 A.E., daughter of Séterrhÿana Navras Delÿa Ravÿnna and Xuxiah Sélené Daénaré Asträeva. Raised by her mother's consorts, and educated upon the philosophies of political doctrine, diplomacy and military strategy she grew to become a very intelligent woman, as well as an adept politician, strategist and diplomat of uncanny versatility.

A few months after her 11,245th birthday, on 5 Aepÿrrh-met during the 245th year of the 12th Era of Dévnostraéva Séterrhÿana Navras Delÿa Ravÿnna or 5 Aepÿrrh-met 12,245 A.E. she received the blessing of her mother to explore a planet in a star system on the periphery of the Ascendant Stellar Hierarchy of Auracexia, as reports had surmised that this planet was life sustainable. Departing Auracexia Prime, she arrived on Qi'thon (Earth) after traveling for 1,000 years on 21 Aepÿrrh-met during the 245th Year of the 13th Era or 21 Aepyrrh-met 13,245 A.E.. Upon arrival in the Nile Delta region of Earth, she encountered the Egyptian civilization and after altering her appearance, promptly assimilated into their culture.

Soviet Union (1917–1977 CE)

After being discovered in Tsaritsyno Palace on 29 August 1963, she was detained in a facility in Penza, R.S.F.S.R. whereupon she was introduced to members of the Archistrate, most notably Dr. Searán Byrne, Agent Azure, and Agent Chartruese.

Later in December 1963, she was approached with the offer to pledge allegiance to the Soviet Union and serve in the Red Army, she graciously accepted and went through training, eventually over time achieving the rank of Sergeant Major. After a period of service with the Red Army of the Soviet Union, she went absent and completely vanished from the country in late 1977, only to turn up in the United States calling herself “Selene Alessandra Michelle Dévnostraéva”. Most infuriating to her superiors and the command of the Red Army, and the politicians of the Soviet Union was the fact that she had managed to exit the country without being noticed. Plans had been devised to either have the United States return her to the Soviets, or to have KGB agents infiltrate the United States and to secure her and bring her back. However, these plans were soon discarded after learning that she had enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at a rank equivalent to that of Sergeant Major and had begun to slowly climb in rank.

Personal Life

Selene married Alexa Sharon Vassaretti, her Vice President during her 40th term as President of the Californian Empire in 2239. Later during Vassaretti's presidency, their daughter Fiora S. A. Dévnostraéva was conceived and born on November 14, 2258. After abdicating the crown as Empress of the Californian Empire on November 14, 2300 and crowning her daughter Fiora as the Second Empress, she began a relationship with Selena Helen DeWinter in 2300, officially marrying her as her second wife on August 29, 2301.

Selene maintained a periodic relationship with Jennifer Angeline Jourgensen beginning in 2254 initially as a protégé, mentoring her through her career in politics which ultimately led to her being picked as the running mate for Vice President when Alexa Vassaretti announced her campaign to run for re-election in 2255. During the period where she was Empress, she resumed the relationship with Jennifer Jourgensen, officially marrying her as her third wife on July 7, 2302.
