The president of Vitulzka (Vistulzkan: Prezydent Wiślańska), officially the president of the Orthodox Republic of Vistulzka (Vistulzkan: Prezydent Prawosławna Republika Wiślańska), is the head of state of the Orthodox Republic of Vistulzka and shares power of the head of government with the Marshal of Vistulzka which is appointed by the president during the election. The president directs the executive branch of the federal government of Vistulzka.
The 1940 Constitution of Vistulzka establishes the executive branch, the office of the president and the powers of the office. The office of the president was crafted within the constitution to be strong and independent, vesting the responsibility of the appointment and the operation of the departments under the Ducal Council.
The constitution also makes provisions for the Sjem to create a Council of Confidence, which replaces both the office of the marshal and the entirety of the Ducal Council. The creation of a Council of Confidence effectively places the executive branch under the direct influence of the legislative branch.
The president is elected to a four-year term directly in national elections, alongside the Marshal and the Head of the Ducal Council. There are no constitutional provisions on presidential term limits for electors to be elected to. The first president to be re-elected into office, Felicjan Osóbka-Jaruzelski, refused to run for a third term and stated that it would be a breach of trust of the people of Vistulzka that are invested in democratic principles. As such, it has since been standstill tradition to not run for election if re-elected. All presidents since the Vistulzkan Civil War have been run by the New Republican Coalition. The Orthodox Republican Party has had the most presidents in office, with a total of eleven presidents belonging to the Orthodox Republican Party. Only two presidents have come to power without being elected, Stanisław Bełza in 1960 and Erzsébet Vadai in 1991 Józef Kamiński is the 20th and current president, having assumed office in August 14, 2020 and was re-elected in the 2024 Vistulzkan elections.
