The Zorasani Irfanic Revolutionary Army (Pardarian: ارتش انگلآب زوراسانی ارفانی; Arteš-e Enghelâb-e Zorasāni-e Erfāni) constitutes the armed forces of Zorasan and comprises the Land Forces (Arz-ye Mosallah), Air Force (Javv-ye Mosallah), Navy (Bahriyeh) and National Protection Force (Emanee-ye Mosallah).
These forces total about 761,000 active personnel (not including the paramilitary National Protection Force), and 2,951,000 reservists. All branches of armed forces fall under the command of General Command Staff. The Ministry of National Defence is responsible for planning logistics and funding of the armed forces and is not involved with in-the-field military operational command.
The modern history of the armed forces began with its formation after the end of the Solarian War and onset of the Pardarian Civil War in 1946. The direct predecessor to the ZIRA, are the forces of the historic Pardarian Revolutionary Resistance Command, and its role in anti-colonial insurgency. The Zorasani military perceived itself as the guardian of Sattarist ideology, the official state ideology, rooted in the ideology being enforced by the military. Since Zorasani Unification, the ZIRA has held significant economic and political power over the Zorasani state, to the extent that many commentators argue that the ZIRA is the governing force of Zorasan.
The ZIRA collectively rank as the XX largest standing military force in Coius, with an estimated total strength in 2015 of 3,712,000 military, civilian and paramilitary personnel. The armed forces are funded by the Xth largest defence budget in the world, with an estimated budget of $61 billion as of 2018, though some NGOs argue that the figure may be much higher.
