James Joseph "Jimmy" O'Reilly (Ghaillish: Séamus Ó Raghallaigh; born 27 April 1976) is a Glytteronian politician who currently served as the Taoiseach of Glytter, a post he has held from 20 April 2017 to 7 May 2018. Previously, he served as Minister of Justice and Equality for Taoiseach Alexis Walker. He is the Teachta Comhthionól (TC) for Bodrick East and has held the post since 2007.

He became the leader of the Liberty Party on 24 March 2017. After Taoiseach Walker announced she would not stand for a third term, the Liberty Party held its National Convention, which O'Reilly won on the eighth ballot.

O'Reilly's tenure, the shortest in Glytteronian history, was marked by immigration and municipal reform. Throughout his tenure he saw heavy criticism for his foreign policy decisions, starting with the purist of the Farsi chemical weapons deal. He became embroiled in scandal over the Pietramontecorvino Incident and resigned on 7 May 2018.

Early life

Jimmy O'Reilly was born in Spálgleann on 21 April, 1976 as James Joseph O’Reilly to Rory O'Reilly, a police officer, and Marie Bongo, a refugee from Petite-Corne who became a security guard. He is their only child. His mother was fleeing the Oykokouan Civil War and came to Glytter with her mother and sisters. O'Reilly's grandfather and all three of his uncles were killed in the Oykokouan Genocide. Through his parents, he is Goeldo-Bahian. He has often spoken out about how he was bullied as a child for his race. During his acceptance speech at the Liberty National Convention where he won the party leadership race, he said that his "mother refused to let [him] be disheartened, and told [him] that one day things would get better".

As a child he attended the Earl Cockenzie Primary School and the Bayside Secondary School in Spálgleann. Jimmy then attended the South Spálgleann Academy before going to the University of Gayneva, where he studied law. While at university he was a member of the school's Children of Liberty chapter. He earned a degree in law from the university and began practice as a civil rights attorney.

Political career

He was elected as TC for Bodrick East in 2007.

Personal life

O'Reilly is married to Alastríona Ní Tuathail, a banking executive he met while studying at university. The two were married in 2007 and have two children, Fergus and Máire. They have two private residences, an apartment in Spálgleann and one a house in Foraintry, a Cruckfada suburb in County Bodrick. His mother has lived with the family at their Foraintry home since the death of Jimmy's father. His wife and children lived with him at Loveland House during his tenure as Taoiseach.

He is a supporter of the Spálgleann F.C. and is an avid football fan.
