Deposition1924: Vardanan Revolution

The House of Hazaraspid, more formally the House of Hazarasp, was the final ruling dynasty of the Kingdom of Vardana from 1832 until their overthrow in 1924 during the Vardanan Revolution. From the 14th century until the 19th century, dynasts primarily served as governors of Bayazet and overlords of Hzadran and Kajnadzor.

The Hazaraspid dynasty arrived in what in Vardana in the 12th century, believed to originate from Chuya province, near the Chu River Valley in Uluujol. Merxas I Hazarasp was the first member of the dynasty to reign over the original Kingdom of Bayazet in the 12th century, and briefly rulings as Kings of Vardana. The dynasty was deposed after being integrated into the Kingdom of Vardana in the 15th century, though they remained lords of Kajnadzor and retained many of their original lands. Following the Xanthi overthrow, the dynasty re-established itseslf as Monarchs of Bayazet, and claimed the titles of the then dormant Kingdom of Varadana. The dynasty was overthrown in the 1924 revolution, where most dynasts were killed.

The head of the House of Hazarasp is Aram, Despot of Bayazet. The head of the house continues to claim all titles and dignities of the King of Vardana, though this claim is disputed by multiple claimants.

Line of succession to the Stepanian claim

Under Hazarasp dynastic succession, the King must adhere to Vardanan Apostolic Christianity in order to hold succession rights. Females may inherit the throne, though since the 19th century have been deemed ineligible if married to "foreign princes".

Jorin, Despot of Bayazet, was the second oldest, and only surviving, son of King Stepan IV through. In his lifetime, Jorin was recognized as Despot and heir to the abolished throne. Aram, Despot of Bayazet is the president of the Crown Council of Vardana.

Head of the House of Hazarasp

Since the abolition of the monarchy in Vardana, the Hazaraspid dynasty has maintained a royal government in exile, headquartered in Ghish. The government in exile was established by Jorin, Despot of Bayazet, following the execution of his older brother Manuel, and proclaimed himself heir to the throne. Despot Jorin was succeeded by his eldest son, Aram, Despot of Bayazet, as head of the House of Hazarasp in 1966. If Aram were to have succeeded to the throne, he would be one of the longest reigning monarch of Vardana at 54 years, as of January 2021, second only to Emperor David VII & I, who reigned for 60 years. Aram's heir apparent is his eldest son Prince Jorin, whose heir presumptive is his own son Prince Ardil.
