Swerdia (Swathish: Sverland), historically known as Lower Swerdia (Swathish: Niþersverland), is a state in the north-west of Estmere. Swerdia is the largest state in Estmere by land with a total area of 77,161 km2 (29,792 sq mi), while it has a population of over 5 million making it the fifth largest Estmerish state by population.[1][2] Tolbury is the capital and largest city of Swerdia, while Wonsbank, Rumburgh, the Swatch Valleys and Witburgh are other important Swerdian urban areas.[3][4] The state borders the states of Marches, the Midlands and Scitterland to the south, Valduvia and Alsland to the west, Werania to the north and Borland to the east.
As an Estmerish state, Swerdia has an elected state government. The state government is assembled based in its ability to command the confidence of the region’s legislature, the Folkmoot. Swathish independence is a salient political issue in the state. The current government is a coalition between the Swerdian Progressive Social Democrats and the Party of the Swathish, led by First Minister Herm Vaġner.
