The Rainford-LAe Hurricane is a twin-engine, canard–delta wing, multirole fighter. Developed from the Rainford-LAe Typhoon, the Hurricane is a more modernized version of the Typhoon, being fitted with the newer Rein-Martin Eurajet EJ200-S2, which is designed to give the engine an increase of output by 30%. It is also given a more advanced missile targeting system under the name, Limestone 2, which provides the ability to target fast moving ground targets. Radar Detection Systems were greatly improved with the adoption of LAe System's MAAASFCR.
The development of the Hurricane rooted from the Typhoon PK2. As Imperial Air Equipment were continuously being replaced by a new generation of jets, Irina Reinford, CEO of Rainford Group proposed a plan to modernize the Typhoon, such as upgrading the engine, armaments, payload, and a radar system capable of . In 2008, the first plan to upgrade the Typhoon was drafted. Undergoing several revisions, the final plan came into action by early-2011. What resulted was a new engine, a larger payload, an improved radar system, and more effective missile systems. The Hurricane proved very effective during testing in a long-range engagement.
It was to be given a different designation under the name Hurricane after the Second Europan War fighter plane, the Hopkins Hurricane.
The Hurricane first flew in 2012 and it attracted several potential buyers from around the world. Several countries such as Esthar and Balamb, Dalmasca and Nabradia, Alteria expressed their interest in acquiring the Hurricane. It first saw action during the Imperial Crisis and proved very effective.
